My First DE: antique shop find: Brit. Pat. NO 400,030

Where are you? Do you think the issues will have an affect on the shave?

I sent you a super secret encoded message with my general location. My undisclosed location is released on a need to know basis. After we have fixed your razor I will need to move again. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they are not after me......:001_smile

There may be safety bar issues also but the noted items caught my eye. Basically you raise the doors till they start to open then lower them half way back down. If the center bar is out of parallel I press down on the high end and up on the low end.(pic 1)
If the lift arms are out of parallel I press down on the high corner and you guessed it, up on the low end cap at the corner. (pic 2) It's one of those things that is easier to do than say for me away.

I couldn't resist so: I just went and had a shave with it, my buddy gave me a gillette super stainless razor blade. All I can say is OUCH! Most likely my technique but I didn't get ONE smooth stroke, compared to my straights the blade was REALLY tuggy and harsh.
Let"s blame the blade for now......:001_smile

Are you talking about adjusting both the endcaps and the bar that the blade slips around? I think I have a Super Speed that can be fixed this way. Or could have before I took a screwdriver to the guard bars. They're a bit wavy now and now definitely out of adjustment.

***edit Yes the center bar is the vertical piece that sticks up through the fitted blade. edit***

What normally works is:

1. Make sure the head base plate is flat and perpendicular to the handle.
2. Check that the safety bars are symmetrical.
3. Center bar parallel to base plate end to end.
4. Lift arms level side to side and do not bind on doors.

If all this is right the doors start to open at the same time and fall open under their own weight at the top of the cycle.
Closing: the door should close and lower to contact the blade at the same time.
