My closest shaving razor

For quite a while my closest shaving razors were my Gillette New DeLuxe
and Gillette New Improved until I tried this frankin razor mentioned by ODJ.
It consists of a Zamuk Muhle R41 base plate with a brass Gillette Old Type
thin cap used with an Ikon Stainless steel handle.A lot of blade feel and not as smooth
as the 2 Gillettes but a bit closer than both.

The Yuma is my closest-shaving DE. The closest of all the razors in my rotation is my Schick E2.

Easiest closest shave: I mean sort of fool-proof and unconscious for me is the Wilkinson Sword black plastic $6 razor. More fun and a little more effort is the Fatip Piccolo. In an Injector either Schick E or Hydro-magic. I am conflicted because I get such a great shave from the Wilkinson Sword. My 30 other razors get lonely.

For me it’s a tie between my Ti Blackbird and my Windsor SSRH for closeness. Enjoy using the Bird more however.

Right now it's the Ti Blackbird OC. I used the OC plate for the first time this evening with a Polsilver SI. It took down 3 days' growth with 3 passes and no complaints from my skin. Just smooth and close. I wasn't expecting it to be so smooth.

Without a doubt, my Vikings Blade Emperor Meiji. Even with it at the lowest setting, it's an aggressive razor.

It just depends on prep, lather, technique, blade choice and skin condition on the day.

In my case I believe state of mind is the answer. I have too many razors and about 6 favorite blades, no matter which I pick if I start out with the intention of having an enjoyable shave it generally ends up being close and comfortable.

My most comfortable closest shaving razor with a fresh Gem PTFE blade would be my Star Bar #4 lather catcher Mfg 1919-20, This razor just ticks all the boxes and my BBS shave lasts a long time also. It might be hard to believe for some folks that over 100 years ago the razor pioneers knew what a razor was required to accomplish with accuracy and comfort.
I do have other razors that have more blade feel that will also crank out a excellent shaves also but you need some skill to accomplish a stellar shave but comfort is sacrificed a little more IMO.

I am new to the crooked B.O.S.S. world and I have to say what a great close shave the slants give. Anyone looking for a close and efficient shave owes it to themselves to give a slant a try. Oh, my slants are a FCCS and the El Fantasma.

Once you get over the weirdness of the slant razor looks, there is no going back to normal uncrooked.

That is strange to me as the Sailor is adjustable, would think you could set closer, than!one gap setting?

Honestly the one razor that surprised me with the closest shave was the cheap three piece razor from dollar tree. Wicked close and aggressive.

My closest shaving razor allround would be my Greencult 2.0 level II. And I suspect my Greencult 1.0 to be even closer when I get around to shaving with it.

If you were to factor in exfoliation than I think my R41 cannot be beat.

I entirely second this. I can get a very close shave with pretty much any razor/blade combination, it's just a matter of technique and mindset.

Me too. I can get a close shave with all my razors.
