My first shaving soap was from Mühle. I tried them all. Sea Buckthorn and Aloe Vera are my favorites, the Sandalwood is quite nice too. When I bought my first DE shaving gear I bought the Mühle puck and the chrome soap dish from them.
After a while using the soap I have tuned in the procedure for producing a good lather with Mühle soaps. I add a bit of water to the soap dish and let it sit for a few minutes, while I do some other prep. Depending on the brush I use, I either just wet it for a short time (synthetic) or let it absorb water for a bit longer (badger). I don’t shake any excess water out but just squeeze the brushes lightly with my fingers. I then discard the water from the soap dish and start to lather the brush on the puck. Once I’m confident I have enough soap in my bristles, I move to my scuttle and start to produce the lather there. If needed I add a few drops of water as I go along. Sometimes I run out of lather for my second pass, then I just rinse the brush shortly load it again and continue to bowl lather.
I don’t face lather, so I’m not sure how to produce a well performing lather this way, but I would assume that lots of water in the brush should do the trick.
