Muhle Razor Broke

My Muhle razor broke the other week? Not like catastrophically but the threads got stripped and wouldn't tighten anymore. Served me for 10 years but was still a shock as it was my first safety razor. Anyone else experience that before?

My daily shaver is a Muhle R89 that's about 3 years old now. Still like new.

If yours is an R89, it was first made in 2010 so yours had the Zamak threads. They since have changed to brass threads for more longevity.

10 years isn't a bad run for the price.

Yep, that’s about the lifespan of Zamak. Luckily replacement heads are not too expensive.

Might be a good time to get a razor made from stainless, brass, bronze, titanium etc as they will last a couple of lifetimes. If you like Muhle I can recommend the Rocca R94. It’s a step up in performance over the R89 and a very good shaver.

New Muhle head, new stainless r89 Rocca, or a new Chinese head will fix you up. I can send you a Chinese Zamak head for free if you want.

I'm looking in to new razors now lol. I have a few others already but looking at an open comb. I have a Rex Ambassador, a blades grim adjustable, and a merkur slant. Not a huge fan of the ambassador and the grim adjustable. if i could off load them I would.

Looks like you may have answered your question!

However, a different razor ‘upgrade’ may or may not improve your shaves.

Okay, bought a blackbird.
That was fast but then again...
