Merkur 11C vs 15C - thoughts?

I first had a 15C and liked it but thought that perhaps the 11C (OC version of the 34HD) would be a tad better b/c of the added weight. I found the 11C on B/S/T and shaved with it a few times. I'm finding it to be somewhat of a mild shaver.

The caveat is that I am fairly new to DE shaving (~3 months) so I'm still working on my technique, lathering and trying different products nearly every shave lately so I have not come to any definitive conclusions as of yet. And I do own a R41 so I guess anything comparably would be considered mild. But so far it seems that even my EJ89 is more aggressive than the 11C.

Their blade gaps seem comparable (but this is just based on eyeballing them). The 11C is a 2 piece and the 15C is a 3 piece so they don't have the exact same head.

I was wondering if those with experience with both OC can share their thoughts.
- Which do you prefer?
- Which do you find more aggressive?
- Any knowledge on specs of/between the two?
- Any other comments on the razors

Thanks in advance to the B+B members! I have found the community to be an invaulable resource in my conversion from 'mainstream' shaving to wet shaving.

Quick Question to you: How do you find the wait of the 11C compared to the 34C? Is it Similar?

This is more of a subjective question than an objective issue, as the answer will vary from shaver to shaver.

I have both razors, and I like the one with the thicker handle better, I guess because of the size of my hands.

I get best results with arming the thin handled 15C with an ultra sharp Feather blade, as the 15C is not quite as aggressive as the other razor. And I use a slightly milder blade (such as a Shark or a Dorco) with the thicker handled 11C.

I hope I don't have the numbers mixed. I hate the number system that Merkur uses, but it's probably better than giving the razors unpronouncable German names!

I actually don't own nor have used a 34C. I am assuming if there is a weight difference it would be negligible as Merkur calls the 11C the open comb version of the 34C HD.

I have both, and find that the 15c (my shower shaver <G>) is a lot milder than the 11c which I find a little on the aggressive side. From the feel, the 11c is basically an open comb version of my HD 34c. I have to be really careful around the neck area with the 11c and it can leave some irritation, whereas the 15c I can go over a spot several times with no irritation at all. Using Astra SP blades in all my razors.
