Just an update for late May.
I am working with Horween to try and get some nicer Horsehide again but production there seems to be slow. Until I can get really clean hides without water stains and with a nice feeling surface I am holding off.
I did just get a new batch of my European Bridle tanned in Italy in a warm, medium brown and just cut a new batch of my Premium Steerhide.
My new, much finer firm cotton is working nicely and the new supple organic Hemp webbing seems to be the new popular choice. The new flax linen is a bit thinner than the old and with a different weave but performs much as the earlier linen did.
I am finding few mills will work with linen now as the supply of the raw flax fiber is very limited and several mills have said the fibers are very abrasive to the machines and the much higher costs and low demand has not made it worthwhile to continue. Luckily the new hemp seems to be a good substitute and for me at least may replace trying to source the flax linen at some point
