L'Occitane Cade

I like the soap! The scent and the warm-lather are truly pleasures! The cream also has an amazing scent, but I have a really hard time lathering it. Will definitely buy the puck again, but not the cream

I didn't like Cade at first. The scent is very, very nice but faint. It leaves my face feeling softer than most shave products. I have never been able to get the lather to look like other soaps (like Palmolive or Speick) -- Cade always looks rather foamy. BUT it shaves really well despite how it looks, and has earned a permanent place in my rotation.

I'm currently using the Cade soap. I don't have problems getting a good lather, it lathers very easily for me. I'm a bit disappointed by the scent - it is faint (which is ok) but not very well defined and seems to have some cheap synthetic musk base, like the Speick stick also. It's not bad but for the price I expected slightly better. All in all a good product, if a bit overpriced.

I like the bowl, btw. It's well made and sturdier than I had expected and therefore not all that bad for the relatively high price for the bowl alone.

I picked up a puck about 4 months ago and have been using it 3-4 times a week.
It provides a very slick and protective lather that I came to appreciate as I ventured into straight razor shaving. Post shave feel is excellent.
It needs water, i leave a pool on it while I shower which softens it up.
I find the scent to be very faint. At one point i sprayed some nice aftershave on tissue paper and kept it inside the soap container overnight. The scent from the AS infused gently into the soap.
I might just do it again soon...
A fantastic soap, inexpensive and by far better, IMO, than the overhyped MDC not to mention il coloniali...

I love the shaving cream, the soap was rubbish though, thin, foamy lather regardless of the amount of water I added , no cushion, next to no scent, I ended up giving mine away

I find Cade soap followed by Cade ASB a pleasure to use. It's easy to produce a luxurious, thick, slick lather, and I love the scent. The classy bowl is a great bonus!

The main reason I would try Cade os for the scent amd it sounds a little lacking in that department. I have a bottle of the Cade aftershave that they unfortunately discontinued and I unfortunately love. Always looking for similar products.

Now half as wise
I think I have smelled Eau de Baux once, but can't remember the smell.

They describe it as wood (cypress) and incense. I'm terrible at describing scents, but I know what I like. SWMBO said "baby oil", but I don't get that at all.

My sincere sentiments exactly! For some reason I didn't try it for a long time, but now that I have, it's one of my favorites.

New formula Cade Soap has a stronger scent and it is a bit easier to lather. But, I never had problems lathering the old formula. There is more info about the new formula in the thread linked below.

The new formula is rapidly becoming one of my favorites, I did have problems with the earlier version. The problem was mainly the performance of the soap...

Used new formula Cade for the first time today. Consider me impressed. I haven't been a fan of veggie soaps until now, but I could see Cade challenging Harris for my #1 soap. I got a great lather with my well water, loading half as long as usual, and a close shave. It smelled so good I skipped the aftershave and went with only a splash of Dickinson witch hazel. Plans right now are to use it for the month trying different brushes & blade combos.

I have a hint for you: try applying the soap directly to the face, as a large stick. Works wonderfully for me, if I store the soap on a bath soap holder between uses. I use the same method for Haslinger (smaller pucks).
