Issues with Feather Blades

I understand it all comes down to technique, but I can shave with any other blade, i have tried 5 now, and the only one that cuts my face is the Feather. I pay extra careful attention when trying the feather, and it just slices up my face like Edward Siccor hands. Seems strange that no other blade does this....i have put them to the back of the drawer, and will try again in 6 months...

Cork it before using it.

I find the Futur loaded with a Feather is just about perfect for me. I have it set around 2 and so far have not experienced any cuts etc. Just gotta be careful.

Great, now Im freaked out about getting to the end of my blade sampler pack and getting into the feathers. I guess Ill really be working on technique over the next few months! Looking forward to looking danger in the eye and laughing.

I like Feathers as a learning tool, as long as you're a fast learner
"OW that burns"- so don't do that again!
It's like learning to ride a motorcycle on a superbike

Futur set at 3 w/ feathers works perfect for me.

The first shave can be a little harsh (if i forget to cork it), but after that a blade can last me a good week to 2 weeks.

I just got some Feathers last night. Tried them in my '56 Flair Tip. My face feels and looks like I took a cheese grater to it. When I get my Slim Adjustable back from Razor Emporium, I'll try them in that.

I finally finished 10 over the last couple years and realized I like them very very much.
So now I have 50. Baby steps.

Feathers get better the better your technique (with a large dose of YMMV in there). My first time was in a Slim and I drew blood. Later I tried a Blue Tip and was wowed. The Slim still was rough. Now I can get a wonderful shave with a Feather in an Old Type.

I've been DE shaving for 6 months. tried Feathers near the beginning and at several points along the way. While I no longer tear up my face, they just don't allow me the closest shave, maybe because of the care that has to be taken. For me they are extremely sharp but not smooth. Best blades for me are the personna med preps

I love Feathers. I use them the most among all my blades. Yet I still have about 225 Feathers left. As an aggressive razor user (ATT H2 and S2, Muhle R41, FaTip, Ikon Shavecraft Tech and Wolfman open comb adjusted to .74mm, among others), I appreciate the two-pass confidence with this blade.

Tried Feathers when I started - popped them in a Gillette Tech and ended up with a face like corned beef - took over a week before my face could see a razor again. I like Feathers in my Slim dialled at 4 - though (depending on the mood of my face at the time) can find them a little on the harsh side still.

Thanks for all your comments. I will try some other blades out and see what works for me. But for now, the feathers are in the back of the drawer.

I have tried Merkur and Dorco and didn't have any cuts, but I felt the blades pulled a little on the hairs compared to the feathers. I hope i can find a blade that meets somewhere in the middle.

You probably won't regret that. I had a similar experience to yours and after a couple of years of experience, I tried my Futur with Feathers again and found it to be a great combination. But remember the standard caveat - YMMV.

In the interim, you may want to try Voskhod. They're not quite as sharp as a Feather, but they give an excellent shave and seem to keep the edge longer.

I have only used Feather blades in a Feather AS-D2 razor since I resumed wet shaving about a year ago after about 35 years of electric. I have had great shaves. My sense is the blade is very good, very sharp but should be paired with the right razor. Clearly Feather's AS is one good match. There may be others.
