Aaah, simply wonderful! Love to see the name alive again! 👏😎

And the new stand is so nice. The old, taller inkwell stand looks quite funny with the short Atlas handle.

These news made me shave with my Windsor CH1 this morning. 🏄🏻‍♂️

Congrats, Shane..... If you look at my purchase history on the ATT site.... You'll see I've been a big fan... <eg>

Oh, yeah, that's cool! I see the order history is restored now, it was offline in between. 🕶️

Covered blade tabs and a titanium option are awesome. Eagerly awaiting a regular (non-slant) option.
Great news, especially with the slant as leadoff. (My S1 is a 2016 stainless steel with Kronos handle.) Congratulations to all involved!

Questions: Are there changes from the earlier design in addition to covered blade tabs, titanium alternative, and new stand? Which handle(s) does the new version have?

Shane, the email said you bumped up the efficiency of S1... Do you have any idea what percentage the increase is? The reason I ask is.... the old S1 gave me 8 hour shaves, while my other razors give me 12....

Hopefully there will be more blade support on the new S1. This was my first CNC razor but the X1 worked out much better for me. Bring on the revamped Single Edges.

There are photos on the new ATT site which I haven't looked at in detail.

Changes:
  • Covered blade tabs
  • Tighter tolerances
  • More efficiency
  • Novel handle design (based on the Atlas)
  • Elimination of S2 designation
    • Replaced by S1 SB/OC
  • Elimination of Handle/Head business model
    • Replaced by complete razor with handle already paired
  • New, more compact stand
  • Titanium
  • Introduction of polished finish

Hard to say. 10%? 15%? Something like that. Efficient enough so I can shave my thick Italian beard, but not so efficient that we've lost the plot and turned the S1 into something it wasn't designed to be. It's still about smoothness over closeness, but now it shaves a bit more efficiently.

I always preferred the original ATT Single Edges as they (for me) eliminated vibration of the blade. G1, X1 or SE1 all feel more secure. Some of this is the blade format and some is the design of the head.

Looks more like based on the Kronos to me...

It's based on the Atlas, but longer with a diamond knurl instead of unidirectional knurl. Which does make it overlap with Kronos.
But it doesn't matter because we're doing away with all those old names and designs which I always found very confusing. There won't be any reference to the Greek handle nomenclature for ATT going forward even though some of the designs will trickle down.

Will there be different handle options or is this the "ATT" handle, like the Blackland has its own distinct handle? Is the "Classic" finish the "brushed" finish or is it a "as machined"? Also will there be a "Satin" Titanium finish? Are you basing the new designs off of the last ATT line (SSMR/SSRH) or the Windsor or the original?

Apologies for all the questions, just very curious :cowboy:

We have not fully committed to a handle direction for any future models we add to the lineup. But regardless of whether or not we add handles to the lineup, there will be far fewer handle options than there were previously and all of the names (Atlas, Kronos, etc) have been retired. The Classic finish is described on our website, but it is the brushed finish from the past. However, ATT's "brushed" finish has always essentially been a machined finish. We will not have a satin finish for titanium for the time being. The Classic finish S1 Titanium is possibly the finest finish we've ever put on a razor.

Currently we are only producing the S1 Slant. If/when we produce a standard DE we will pull from the original line with updates/improvements. The Windsor Pro will not return.

One of our primary goals with ATT is to simplify the lineup and the ordering process. Our old lineup was a bit hard convoluted and hard to navigate. So we're stripping things down to make our lineup more easily digestible by our customers.

I have a silly question. Since I already mentioned my fondness for lighter handles so the balance of my razors tilts towards the razor head, could I custom order two titanium handles with one SS head and a titanium head and switch the head pieces around so I’d end up with two razors with slightly different razor head weights?

I’ve done that very successfully with another manufacturer’s razor. I guess the question is, if I did that, would the pieces be interchangeable?

Edit: I’d order everything with your polish finish. I wouldn’t care if the colors matched exactly.

To clarify, two razors comprising of:

  • Stainless head
    • Titanium handle
  • Titanium head
    • Titanium handle
If that's correct, then yes I think that's doable. It's just one titanium razor and one semi-custom razor. All the parts are interchangeable. We'd need to make a custom order/invoice which is no problem.

That is exactly correct.

I have the S1 on my list for next year. I’ll contact you when I’m ready to make the purchase.
