How Did You "Ring In" Independence Day?

Started out by finding out when I woke up this morning that my wife had contractions all night. Planned to spend the day at the hospital but her contractions subsided. We went to the Belton 4th of July Parade (one of if not the biggest in 4th parade in Texas). Afterward went to the boot shop for about an hour then to a BBQ at my brother-in-laws house. Next went to my parents house where I smoked a cigar with my dad. We just got home a little while ago and we are both exhuasted not to mention my son. Think we are gonna hit the sack a little early tonight and rest for when my daughter decides she wants to pop out.

I'll keep you guys updated.....

Hey, sincere thanks, David! 11:10 pm our time and my wife has been asleep for a few hours. Maybe no baby tonight.

I rode my bike 9 and a half miles. Then I ate dinner (grilled porterhouses) with family and friends and we drove to Fredericksburg, VA for some fireworks. I'm about to end my day with a shave.

After breakfast a quick shave featuring a 1912, some VDH Glycerin, my custom aloefied Dickinson's WH and (what else?) some Lilac Vegetal. Left for St. Pete Beach around noon stopped for lunch (some smoked mullet) at a place in Pasadena. Then on to the beach for the day with my wife, my grandson, my son and his girlfriend. Fireworks were better in past years but it was all good. I think next year I'll go to Treasure Island for fireworks. The fireworks at St. Pete Beach were launched from a barge that was apparently anchored about half way between St. Pete and Houston. Not much oooooh aaaaah there but it was a great day at the beach and a good time was had by all. I now look like a portly lobster with a handlebar moustache :lol: Happy Birthday America, and many happy returns!

DL:

Again, please let us know when your little girl makes her debut into this world. I remember when my two girls were born. It really did seem just like yesterday. Now, my oldest has blessed me with a little grandson!

You really do need to get that little girl a Lady Gillette razor for future use. Buy it now and save it for the time when she becomes a young woman.

Regards,

David

You know, I almost forgot about my GEM/Star 1912!

There is much lightening around here, so I will have to sign off pretty soon for the night. I think that I will end this day as I began it - with a shave!

So, I will break out the 1912 SE, and I just might even try something completely different for a shaving soap. I have a brand new puck of Van Der Hagen Deluxe just begging to be placed into my 1997 C&E shaving mug.

I think I'll give it a go.

The lightening strikes are getting closer. So, bye for now. Time to shut the Mac down, get the brush soaking and the VDH puck out of the box!

Again, Happy Birthday America!

Warmest Regards,

David

Well, for starters, my wife prefers whiskers, so no shaving on the 3rd or 4th:frown:
I never thought that I'd regret not shaving on a long weekend off.

Other than that, we've had two very rare, blissful, relaxing days.

A lot of the locals in the New York area are out of town and things are very quiet here. We had a long, leisurely walk this morning with our dog, scoping out the preparations for the fireworks on the Hudson River (this is rare, as they are usually held on the East River - this year on the Hudson celebrates the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson "discovering" the river).

After the stroll, a long, leisurely outdoor lunch, chatting with another couple. Then, we picked up makings for sangria to drink during the fireworks. After that, a nice late afternoon nap. We finished up with dinner, then we sipped sangria while we watched the NYC fireworks from our kitchen window - one of those days you wished you could have every week.
Happy 4th, all!

I had a nice shave with my Speick stick, Simpson T-3, TV Superspeed and some Osage rub. Then I went out and put up the flag. My neighbor has his flag up every day, but other than us no flags are to be seen on the block. :frown:

Later on it's a barbecue at the in-laws.

At least you do your part! The flag flies in front of my Dads, Grandfather's and my house every day.
