Green Irish Tweed Longevity

... Everybody's body chemistry is different, of course, by I would advise anyone to be wary of overapplying any Millesime fragrance.

I didn't realize the Millesime line was supposed to be so potent. I have a sample of Millesime Imperial and I have used it very liberally, but the fragrance was completely gone within an hour. Hmm...maybe I got a bad sample.

On me, GIT only takes one squirt for all day and into the evening. Strong and lasting. I think the most potent long lasting cologne I own.

Different body chemistry, different results.

4PM CST and it's beginning to die off. Still there but faint. But again, it was a rather light application this morning.

I can still smell the C&S Neroli that I applied this morning, but only the application that I applied to my neck, not on my wrist. Last night, my wife said that she could only smell the application of GIT that I applied to my neck also. This makes me think that applications applied to my wrist dies off faster than that applied to my neck area. This happen to anyone else?

Not necessarily, but it could be your neck is not as dry a place for the scent to evaporate from. Problem with the neck area is that the closer a scent is to your nose, the bigger the chance you'll go "blind" to it.

Okay. So I did put it to the test. I happened to be home at arond 4:00 pm eastern and applied a pretty good couple of shots to the inside of my forearm--that is, a more intense application than I would normally do for my neck/chest.

It actually seemed stronger at first and a bit stronger for longer than I expected. Otherwise tenacity seemed about what I had recalled--essentially middle of the road, maybe just a bit better..

I would say that at 10:30 pm, it was still perceptible. By 11:30 it seems completely gone. Maybe there is something still there, but it is mightly slight. I really think close to, if not, imaginary.

I will try some on my neck/chest tomorrow and see if the result is about the same. Harder to check on on those parts of my body though.

Smells darn good though. An old friend. GIT is deservedly popular IMO. It is just not ny favorite. It does have a certain Creedness to it, which I basically like and recognize more now than I might have been able to in the past.

Is there any (European) place where I could get a GIT sample? Creed themselves apparently don't send out samplers.

Used it yesterday. Put it on at about noon, and also applied a spritz to my forearms. Now, 5 am the next day, so after 17 hours, I still can smell it on my arms! This is quite long for a Creed, I think only the Santal Original last as long on me.

I have the same phenomena with many scents.
My own thoughts about it is that is simply wears off on my desk & all the paper I'm shuffling thruout the day.

Further test results. I am wearing GIT on basically my neck today.

HoratioCaine is correct and I was wrong about being able to apply more GIT (at least, perhaps other Creeds are different) than other scents of some other brands without driving people away. The initial blast of GIT especially and going for at least a full, timed 45 minutes is pretty darn strong. It settles down after that but a couple of hours later is putting out pretty substantial sillage, I would think.

I will edit this message at the end of the day to report on tenacity over the course off the day. [EDIT: End of the day status, I guess about 9 hours in from application. Maybe three GIT sprays, but not full sprays, on my neck. GIT is still there, albeit faintly, if I, say, rub the side off my neck with my hand. Judging by past experience with other scents, I suspect that if I worked up a bit of a sweat, it would come back stronger than just rubbing my hand. In any event, more there that was left on the insider of my forearm the other night. Fairly faint, but not imaginary! Maybe my neck is greasier or maybe the GIT got on my shirt collar as well as skin and that keeps things refreshed or something. I was wearing long sleeves last night, so the GIT should not have rubbed off except perhaps on the inside of the shirt sleeve, but I am certain I did not get any of the spray of the GIT on the shirt material then. So: "My face is red, I stand corrected." That is better than average tenacity on me--I think. Maybe I should be paying more attention. Perhaps I am getting better tenacity for scents than I thought across the board.] Fun stuff. to try to figure out!]

Does everyone else perceive GIT as very linear in both notes and strength? I had forgotten this about GIT, if I am correct. I would expect natural ingrediants--natural is something I do not much care one way or the other about, BTW--to evolve more in the dry down.

[EDIT: Amazing linearity from first "blast" to dying embers. Not a dis against GIT exactly, but still I am a bit surprised there was not more evolution than that. How can there not me more evolution than that! Smells wonderful!]

Still a very nice scent. Reminds me of Pen's EF in many ways. Masculine. Versatile. Smells like a classy and likely "expensive" version of a typical style of man's scent. I do not often wear GIT in part because it seems too common, but this exercise reminds me, as I said before, that it deserves its wide and deep popularity.

I agree that the scent it singular. But that's not a bad thing where GIT is concerned.

I'm wearing Acqua di Parma Absoluta today and the scent is still going strong, 8 hours after I put it on. I used the same technique that I used yesterday for apply C&S Neroli and GIT the previous day, 3 swipes on each wrist and 2 each side of the neck and 2 on the upper chest.

I've had some issues as well with GIT. I'm not sure if it's the dry air in Baltimore right now, or where I'm applying it on the skin, but I get anywhere from 2-7 hours...it's quite erratic. I don't have any reason to assume it's the juice in the bottle, because I purchased it directly from Creed Boutique several weeks ago.

FWIW, I apply two sprays to the chest and one to the wrists. Maybe I'm not hitting the pulse points?

I remember at first application that GIT smelled like a Gin &Tonic with Lemon and after several hours, it had more floral notes.

I generally only apply cologne to the chest - two sprays of whatever it is that day.

That's to slow the evaporation and so I can get whiffs here and there throughout the day.

Keep in mind that if you can still smell your juice strongly after a few hours, your sillage could likely be stronger than it should be (unless announcing your presence via scent is your thing).

I have gotten poor longevity with GIT as well. I really think they differ in potency from batch to batch, as some members have said.

I have also noticed, that some of the bottles that I have received from discount online retailers have smelled less potent. I have a bottle from an online place, and a bottle from Neiman's. The bottle from Neimans produces a much deeper ambergris note at dry down. could this be a placebo effect? perhaps, but my GF gets the same effect on her skin. in short, I guess I am saying that some bottles get skunked by heat damage or something.

Ive found that I cant apply a scent on my neck/breastbone because my nose tends to ignore the scent after a couple hours. It seems as if there is no scent left yet my wife clearly can smell it. Ive now switched to the back of my neck and have had much better luck. Give it a shot and see what you think.
