Feather Artist Club Q's

I have had these:
Feather DX
Feather SR
Feather SS
Kai Captain Excelia
Kai Captain Saloon
Kai Captain Standard

Shaving is different in them depending on the lips of the edge (above you have an example photo) and also because they have a different blade exposure.
An example of the DX and the Excelia with the same blade. And Captain standar vs DX.

Even so, in just a few shaves you can handle any of them correctly (if you are a straight razor user, it is easier). For me the key is in the blade. I don't like the Feather, they are very aggressive (I haven't tried the Super Pro). With the Schick Proline everything is easier, they are soft and effective.

Sorry, the translation is with Google, I hope it is understood.

Thank you so much for posting these pictures!
I have not tried the Excelia and it is nice to see how the blade exposure is different from the Kai Captain Standard and the Feather DX.

Blade exposure is an important but not decisive factor. I'll try to explain it.

A Feather Professional blade on a DX has the same (or very similar) exposure as a Feather SS with a Feather Super Professional blade.
Then the difference would be in the lips of the SS edge. In this case, the shaving angle could be quite similar for the DX and SS.

This allows you to increase the aggressiveness of the SS a little but it always depends on the blade. I don't like the Feather blades the most and I prefer the Schick ones.

On the other hand, the DX has the head, the opposite part of the edge, wider than any other and could be somewhat more uncomfortable to use when shaving areas such as the lower part of the nose.

It's a matter of getting used to it. It's like using a 6/8 or 8/8 straight razor in that area, it just takes getting used to it.

In my experience with AC type interchangeable blade knives, I draw two conclusions:

1. They are wonderful and you get used to the one you have, SS, DX or whatever.

2. Ranked from most to least important to enjoying shaving is...
The blade-->blade exposure-->lip shape (shaving angle)-->razor size.

I hope Google translation does not distort the message.

Thank you for your insights.
At the moment, I stick to guarded blades for the Feather DX and Kai Captain Standard but unguarded blades with the Kai Kasho Woody which has a lip. Those are probably my current three favorite AC barber razors in my collection.
I also am not a fan of the Feather blades but prefer the Kai blades (like the Kai Captain blade or the Kai Captain Titan ProTouch MG).
