Fatip clone??

Hello all. Just kicking the can down the road. Anyone have a recommendation on a Fatip OC/Gentile clone? I sold mine and will not get another unless they get rid of the gap at bottom of pins. Other than that I loved the shave they gave. Does the PAA OC or Double Open Comb come close?

I don't think there are going to be clones of a razor with such material and finish in that price range. Fatips are cheaper than Chinese brass razors.

What do you mean "gap at bottom of pins?"

If you are referring to the loose alignment, just preload the top cap to one side with the force in the direction of the cutting edges as you tighten the screw. That centers the blade in all of my Fatips with almost zero additional effort.

I think I know what @BabyBudaNedly means. On the retention pins on Fatips, there is sometimes a tiny crack of a fraction of a mm around the base of each pin where it is spot soldered onto the plate, maybe just enough to slide a thin piece of paper into.

Is that what you are referring to?

It isn't a problem for me. I suppose a blade could get hung up there, but it has never actually happened to me, and I always blow through the caps of my razors after use to remove the water, so there are no issues with moisture getting trapped there either.

If my phone can manage it I will try to take a photo of what I am talking about later today - although I may not get the chance.

That makes sense. I was thinking "bottom" as tapered part of pins distal to the bottom of the cap, not where the pin is attached.

I dry my caps on a towel with the pins down, so any water should drip out of there.
