Fake Simpson?

I got this Trafalgar T3 to go with my T2. It was offered in black on the big river store. No branding on the box, bad photocopy of use suggestions and logo is incomplete. Did I get hooked?

If you find out you have been a victim of Fraud, contact merchant, ask for shipping label to return
Counterfeit for Full Refund. Hopefully you paid with CREDIT CARD, and then DISPUTE CHARGE because of FRAUD, if it is fraud.

Send Photo to Simpson or to ask if this is no branding packaging?

Good luck.

Just emailed Simpson. My T2 and 46 Berkeley were wrapped and the box was foil imprinted with proper instructions inside. Both recent purchases. The 46 came from Shave Nation and this suspect brush was from Amazon. Yes that's a red flag.

Here is another example supplied directly from Simpson to a B&B member:

That's my brush with the exception of black plastic and the word ebony written in with ball point next to the T3. I don't want to send it to Simpson and have them send a new one because I'm sure they were not in the purchase chain. Not fair to them in my opinion. Back to Amazon it will go.

I'll check later but from memory I think the "lower end" brushes like the Trafalgar just come in a plain box? The Berkeley with the silver printed box was probably more expensive? Maybe they only do the foil printing on the more expensive brushes.

The Trafalgar line of course isn't really their luxury line so it may not be up to quite the same high standards in areas like presentation etc as their more expensive brushes.. which is understandable of course as it costs a lot less.

The box does look legit to me.. same type of red box with the same pattern. As does the logo on the brush and everything. The fibres look just like the Sovereign fibres on mine.. same colours, same little wavy "kinks" in them etc.

If you look at the thread above that Red Ring posted. The user posted a picture of a replacement brush that he received direct from Simpson and it has the same box without silver printing and what looks to be the same printed leaflet as yours.

Did it come from Amazon direct or an Amazon seller? Usually you can't go wrong buying directly from Amazon.. never had an issue in hundreds of transactions. I personally avoid Amazon sellers though. I always make sure whatever I'm buying comes from Amazon and is sold by Amazon.

That said, there are a lot of fakes of everything coming out of China these days and you can't be too careful. I buy all from authorised sellers or trustworthy stores.. you might see something a few quid less on some marketplace but it's just not worth it as half times you don't know what you're getting from dodgy online sellers.

Just my two cents but in this case, it looks like a perfectly legit ebony T3 to me going by the images.

By the way, I've received brushes directly from Simpson's with ballpoint on the labels. Usually the colour noted. I think I had a tortoiseshell Duke and a Chubby with the handle/rod colour written in ink also. Sapphire candy. I'll check my boxes later to confirm. In my view, if anything that would add to the likelihood of authenticity. I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with it, I wouldn't have any concerns and I'm extremely wary of counterfeits.

Amazon & EBay have lots of fly by night sellers. Who sell knockoffs.

Neither Enay, or Amazon do much to stop, there excuse is we are not experts.

Back to Amazon is great option.

My T2 is about a year old. My printed boxes are for the Berkeley and Wee Scot. Maybe it's legit. I'll check the T2 when I get home.
