I do what Gillette told me to do and rinse, open, and air dry.

The only common problem I could see with modern razors and blades would be soap build up as mentioned before, which is nothing the usual hot water rinse doesn't solve.

I remove and air dry because I palm strop. I find I get smoother shaves and am extra shaves from stroping. I never worried about rust.

I always loosen my three piece razors for airing or just crack the heads of my adjustables. Can someone suggest me something????

Now I remember -- place mineral oil jar containing blade inside a brown paper bag to prevent UV ray damage.

And don't forget to put the whole shebang under a pyramid to keep the blade sharp.

I dip my razor (with blade) into a small jar of alcohol just before putting it back on the shelf. It helps speed up the drying by displacing the water. It also may help sanitize (not sterilize!) the razor and blade, so that's a side benefit.
