I didn't get around to getting a paddle strop but I DID lay out my hanging strops flat on my dresser top, with the top cap of the strop just hanging off the edge of the dresser so 80 percent of the strop was perfectly flat, and I was able to get in some good, even laps on the diamond first and then the crox - forgot exactly how many but was probably a couple dozen. Then 100 laps on a sanded filly strop, 100 on an english bridle, and the razor was shaving again. Felt pretty good and the shave was pretty smooth. Definitely not as sharp as a fresh honing - but I'm no longer tearing up my face. I suppose the lesson here is, I need only a simple, quick shot on the paste to keep the edge bright - but more often, and BEFORE it goes too far. Going to keep using the pasted strop on the dresser top to keep it perfectly flat, and strop in smaller sections on the hanging leather for better control. I'll probably go ahead and get the blade re-honed too, and try to do a better job of maintaining it. Thanks for your help everyone!! I appreciate it!
