DG Signature protection?

Hey folks,
I just pulled the trigger on a V15 unicorn ivory shave brush that should be arriving early next week. This is my first hand-tied knot, so I'm excited to compare against my V25 Fanchurian from Chisel & Hound. A reviewer from a separate shaving forum puts this one above B5 and B6, and the unicorn ivory pour seems classy and traditional.

I was curious if folks here do anything to protect Scott's signature on the bottom from water and smudging? I've done some reading, and I've seen someone use clear nail polish. I don't want to smudge the signature, since that seems like a guarantee of quality and is the only indicator of the batch if I ever want to resell it.

Happy to update here on the brush comparison, if anyone is interested in that kind of thing. I've never tried any other knots besides some DIY brushes that I have thrown together over the years, but I can see the qualities of B15 being appealing to my own preferences.

First off, congrats on getting a DG brush. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things!

Since I’ve never tried one, I unfortunately cannot answer your question. However, I wonder if the brush comes with a box/paperwork which states the batch of hair used and other details about the brush

That could be another way of proving authenticity if ever needed

It’s interesting that you mention that, because I’d never seen the issue come up of the signature smearing but then just last week I saw someone selling one that had been smudged.
I don’t have an answer on the best method to protect the sig, I’m wondering if Scott might have a suggestion directly that would work well.

Scott’s brushes only come in a box with tissue paper - no paperwork identifying the batch of hair or pour. The ‘gold sharpie‘ signature and batch number is all one gets.

I listened to him on the Lathertalk podcast and he mentioned being very busy and not being great at answering direct questions. I wonder if the fellow with the smudged brush tried to clean it with a solvent. Good to hear that it's not much of an issue
