CV Heljestrand age

My understanding is; C.V. Helgestrand with the MK and model number stamps were distributed by Markus Kindal. Some C V Helgestrand razors have the model number but lack the MK and some are only stamped C V Helgestrand. Thoses were not distributed by Markus Kindal but were fairly common in Scandanavian countries. They are all quality blades.

Someone may have more complete info than me, this is what I've gleaned from various posts and articles.

To go a little further into the rabbit hole, many of the non-modeled ones I have seen are basically the same as existing models like the MK3 or MK4, for instance. I have one that is identical to an MK3 with no stamp and ivory scales. Sometimes if they had a reseller's brand etched on the blade they wouldn't have a model either. I also had a non-numbered one that was identical to an MK5. So it's more of a matter of knowing what size/style/grind you like and judging the razor based on that.

However, there is one big exception. There is one model/style that is very common among the rest of the Swedish makers that is shoulderless, usually with a barber's notch at the toe. Heljestrand didn't make very many of these and they almost never put a model number on them, but occasionally you'd see it stamped 15 or 16, and there was another number that escapes me at the moment. Often these were etched with a reseller's brand or sometimes with a monogrammed "CVH" on the blade face. They're also excellent razors, very light and nimble if you like that sort of thing, but quite different from the rest of the Heljestrand range. Here is an example of one:

Beutiful razor,i have the exact same shaped razor but its an Erik Anton Berg(without notch). Now for the Heljestrand i have found an amazing one,no model, and im going to buy it. i thought the same thing that they are the same razors with the modeled ones but different marketing approach.Very informative comment, thank you.

If you can get a Heljestrand in good condition (no chips, rust, etc....) it will be a good shaver. If you get one with ivory scales--even better. But, the blades are the best I've shaved with, so even if you get one without ivory and want to change the scales, it's worth getting...

This is an old no model name Heljestrand that I rescaled.
I like these jimps because they appear to be cut freehand,
without the use of a jig.
