What's new

Color me befuddled

Big word, I know. Seriously though. I have a Timeless SS .95 OC with 100mm plaid handle, matte finish. I fairly recently purchased a Feather AS-D2 and really enjoy the knurled handle, so I figured I'd order the knurled handle from Timeless, matte finish, to match my cap and base plate. Funny thing is that they don't quite match. They are both matte, but the original finish on my razor and handle has more of a grey look. The new one, also matte, has a little more luster and not quite a match. Anyone else experience this?

I emailed Timeless to ask about it. I plan to keep the handle regardless, but am wondering why the difference in matte finishes.

It's a keeper regardless

Tumble time , speed or as stated beads to handle ratio....it shows a bit of QA issue..
Be interesting what they and do for you...
BFX

I just heard back from them, and they basically said what you did with regard to the media used, time tumbled, amount of contact with the between the media and part etc. They said if I send them pics they can try to match and send me another handle. I don't know, I think I'm being just a little OCD. It is just a handle after all. I think I will probably just stick with what I received.

Or take them up on it now and not kick yourself over something that; while small in the larger scheme of things; will drive you bonkers in the future?

They normally charge ten bucks for a return just FYI. Would be cool if they waived it for you if you decide to send it back.

I thought about it, but I think I'll be OK. The more I look at it, I kind of like the contrast. Besides, I'm only going to acquire more razors going forward, so eventually I'll find one that matches that handle perfectly lol.

I agree -- it is, after all, a razor, not an art object.

And if it were an art object, it would be one that exists in multiple incarnations, like a print (rather than an oil painting). There's no reason to believe that an artist's "#1 of 50" is exactly the same as "#49 of 50".
