Clubman AS vs. Hair Tonic?

This has probably been answered here or there but I had a quick question for you guys.

Several members use Osage Rub, Eau de Portugal and Eau de Quinine hair tonics as aftershaves.

I noticed there are a couple of others that Pinaud also calls hair tonics.

I ordered the Osage Rub and the rest I miss but should I have also gotten the 3-4 others?

And what do you think about about Tres Flores?

Thanks in advance.

There is a Clubman Hair Tonic which is similar to original Clubman aftershave, but certainly not needed as a replacement. It makes a nice hair tonic but I prefer the Jeris Hair Tonic, that stuff smells wonderful! YMMV. The Tres Flores aftershave is umm.....different. I don't care much for it but it mixes well with Lilac Vegetal. I've tried in vain to get others here to try that combo!

Patrick, Pinaud calls Tres Flores hair tonic too and that's one reason I asked. Another member here showed that among his collection of aftershaves. Plus I noticed several of the hair tonics are labeled as Jeris products and wondered why that is.

I need the oil in all my tonics because I have dry hair. Just wondering what others think.

My hair is oily but less so as I age. I don't use anything after shampooing now but just for grins I thought about trying at least one of the ones Pinaud calls hair tonic.

Go for it. Won't break the bank.

It sure won't. When I was much younger I had the "wet look" and remember at various times using Brylcream, Vitalis, or Wildroot. My father used one called Kreml but I haven't seen that for over 30 years.

While I have never tried the Tres Flores tonic, I LOVE the smell of the brilliantine, so if it's similar, I would say give it a try. (As you probably know, "Tres Flores" means "Three Flowers", so expect a flowery scent.)

Keep us posted Dave.

Will do Tony! Now I'm waiting for the rest of the Pinaud products. I believe it was you who recommended the Eau de Quinine and that is on the way. As well as Musk, Special Reserve, and Osage Rub. Plus, I saw where the Pinaud website also sells Proraso green soap (aka croap) so I added that too.

Yes I took French but three is "trois" and "trés" is very as in "trés bien" But what is brilliantine?

OK thank you but do you know who makes it?

Elves?

I don't know. I bought on bottle of it at Wally World not realizing what it was. I thought it might be aftershave targeting the growing Hispanic population. When I opened it at home I found out it was oil based, so I poked around a bit on google until I found out that brilliantine was an archaic word for hair tonic. Google translate actually recognizes it as English and provides the Spanish equivalent - which is spelled almost the same.

I like Vitalis way better if I used anything in my hair. Putting oil on my greasy mop is a mistake.
