bubble bursts on Yardley SS - market plummets...

I have two Yardley bowls, both found "in the wild". One was partially used and I am enjoying the fine shaves it gives. The other is still sealed in plastic (cellophane?) and was found in this nice set:

Beautiful set!

I'm in deep envy of that cologne... Talc I have, AS I have, SOAP - I have... but cologne of that generation... I no gots.

really. I'm almost finished.

I was going to start a thread entitled "show us your vintage shaving soap." Then I became worried that if you posted in the thread, you would crash the server. :biggrin1:

Really, you collection is quite impressive!

I don't think I'd be crashing any servers!

I've resolved to catalogue it, though.

I'm not entirely sure I know all of what I have at this point - and I want to add to the "ancient and [nearly] forgotten tallow soap compendium."

You'll like this, Dave - I recently got a very cool Potter & Moore shaving stick in a glass jar (a la Yardley English Lavender) - and the scent remains!

Holy Schnikeys! that is a beauty of a set. One can only hope, to find such a thing someday. :001_tt1:

The connection to the past is one of the things that brought me here to B&B in the first place, of those that I have, I love the vintage soaps!

Jon...I'd love to see a photo tableau of some of your soap gems. Some day maybe I'll find something in the wild, so I won't have to hit the
"Ludicrous Bid" button on e-bay to get some.

Very nice! Is the scent similar to the Yardley shave stick you have with the scent still remaining?

That's really nice. The largest antique place nearby didn't really have anything shave-wise except a decent ball end old type, which i picked up for $6, and an older Yardley gift box. i tried to not get too excited about seeing the Yardley box figuring it'd be hand soap or something else; seeing as how disappointing the shaving inventory was, but when they took it out of the glass case and opened it up [Pause for dramatic affect]... it was full of postcards and pictures. slakjdfska;jfsalkhdfas;kldj!!!

prices are coming back... looked for a bit that Old Spice shaving soap was going to become dearer than Yardley!
