What's new

Brown Leaf Acquisitions -- November 2024

Anybody try this KBV Burley Morning Pipe blend? I'm intrigued by the description of it having "coffee" notes.
I haven't tried it, but I've seen some good reviews. There is also a Burlier Morning Pipe, and Handsome Stranger, which are supposed to be tweaked versions of Burley Morning Pipe. Have heard good things about all of them.

The weather has turned a bit less hot, and while that may not last, perhaps next weekend I can run up to Jackson and the Country Squire to pick up a couple of their blends. They have other classics like Amphora and St. Bruno. But I've sent a group of my old pipes that I no longer care for to SP, and I hope to have a goodly amount of store credit, so I can buy those last two online.

Went antiquing today with my better half and I found some estate pipes.

There were almost two dozen pipes. A nice MM cob bulldog but the tenon was loose and coming out of the cob. Several other nice cobs and others with stems that were badly damaged, that I left behind.

Here's what came home with me...

Two Peterson system pipes; one 303 and a 314. I've been eyeballing a 302 for a few weeks, so I'm really looking forward to getting the 303 up and running.

Also a bent Kaywoodie and a Bulldog shaped pipe I haven't been able to ID yet.

Lastly, a Dunhill Shell for only $8, which I believe is the score of the lot!

Wow, a kaywoodie is priced more than the Petersons and the Dunhill. That’s one hell of a deal!

This is how Gillettes are priced as well. Always the good ones for little money and the dime a dozen razors are big money. Antique vendors don’t tend to do much research it seems.

The sms meer arrived late last night lol. It is obviously not new 🤣. But I really dig the well loved colored up meer look. This one definitely fits that category. Got some cleanup to do on it but it is in good shape otherwise. I'm betting it ia going to darken up quite a bit after waxing.

I decided to get myself another briar pipe since this shape was screaming “buy me because I’m not like the rest.” It’s a Digby (lower line if GBD from 1976-1981) model 9282, I want to say this is what happens when a bulldog shape and a prince shape collide. Haven’t seen as another outside the GBD line like it which what got my attention.

That’s a handsome looking pipe! Enjoy!

I grabbed a few pipes from an antique shop, and posted in my Newbie thread, but wanted to throw some before and after glamour shots in here as well.
