Beech-Nut Moonshine

I was in a local discount tobacco store the other day, and I noticed they had Moonshine flavored Beech-Nut chewing tobacco. I was a little scared to try it, but it was cheaper than my usual Levi Garrett, so I tried it. At first it was a little different. The best was I could describe the taste was it tasted like red oak sawdust with a hint of smoke flavor. Someone later told me that I had pretty much described the taste of moonshine. I finished the pouch yesterday, and I'll say that I probally won't be buying it again, but it was interesting to try.

Not a chewing tobacco expert, but I have sampled some shine in my day. When you pop the top off the quart jar, the first thing you smell is corn. And I mean corn. As a matter of fact, you can smell corn in the next room. This stuff is volatile. The taste, well depends on the maker, butI have found that the taste is very subtle, but the smell is corn.

I've only had shine once (college buddy from Kentucky brought a jar of unknown provenance), but I wouldn't put the taste as anything close to "subtle." And mind you that I like whiskey, so I like to think that I can at least get some nuance from a dram.

Agree about the smell though. Smelled like rubbing alcohol and canned corn.

Moonshine is pretty much pure corn alcohol, it isn't aged so there shouldn't be any woody flavors. I think both of the above gentlemen are correct it doesn't have much of a flavor profile but it is stronger then hell so you definitely know your drinking it.
