What's new

Anyone else do this with Old/Bad/USED Blades

Use to put my Old, Used, or Bad Blades in Beer Cans post use, then cover top of pull tab hole with scotch tape, and into trash. Decide to try & do something NEW for me, I have Paper Wrapper Blade came in, save to recycle, then put the Blade to be discarded in Wrapper, Scotch Tape Shut. Into out going trash. Seems to work fine.

I bought an official barbershop "Sharps Container" for a couple of bucks. When it gets filled up in a few years, a local drugstore will take it and dispose of it safely for me at no cost. Hard to beat that solution.

Well when you mention local Drug Store, I will ask non chain places? Where I live the only drug stores are the chain drug stores. Like Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Couple of grocery stores. It's all chain, and big business. Non offer anything like you describe a disposal service.

Honestly can’t recall seeing what we use to call drug stores, small family owned businesses, with customer service, and local ownership.

It's a CVS store. They offer this for diabetics, etc. who have empty syringes to dispose of, but they will take an official sharps container. It has to be made for that purpose. I think the whole kit & caboodle gets incinerated along with other medical waste.

I'm sure the people collecting trash would prefer you not put your razor blades in there.
When I was in high school I rode on the back of the truck and dumped the bins in the hopper. I just treated every bin as dangerous because the proportion of dangerous ones was very high anyway.

I think if you bag them up well so the bags don't rip open and spill blades on the lawn and street before the bag is in the hopper, then you are probably good. Maybe double bag the can or duct tape it up nicely.

Once the compactor has hit it, it is a giant mess of poop diapers, cat litter, broken glass, and rotten chicken anyway. A few blades won't really change the hazard level.

I put the used blade back in the paper, then snap long way then snap the short ends together. Haven't ripped a bag yet :)

I use a washed out steel soup can or chili can. They hold a lot of used blades and when close to full you can smash it closed with a hammer, then recycle it. The idea is that this way the blades will be safely recycled with the can.

Only need one of these for a lifetime.

I actually recycle aluminum cans. I take that money and a few times a year buy Ohio "Classic Lotto" tickets. I simultaneously throw money at my state education system and daydream that I'll run a winery one day while wearing a white suit and various hands paid minimum wage look upon me with adulation.

And I'm going to need one of those Panama Jack hats to go with my white suit.

Currently, I use an old pill bottle from the VA pharmacy as my blade bank. But many hundreds of people are missing out on the benevolence I can display in a white suit and a Panama Jack hat.

We have a drug store here called Durans. They sell the Bigelow line of colognes, Proraso shave and AS products, tons of other stuff and tinfoil hats for cats and dogs and about 5 different razor blades. There's also a restaurant inside. Mostly NM food and burgers. Two years ago a guy's pistol fell out of his pocket, went off and hit somebody.

Your going to have to pay them more then minimum wage for those kind of looks. The suit sounds fantastic. But I thought I was the only one who repurposed a VA pill bottle.
