A rant from a spoilt brat

I want one!
I want one ... NOW!!!

Not exactly sure what makes it so special but I like the color.
2024 Limited Edition Pine. Very nice. Lately I have had confirmed that though I can appreciate and may want to have nice things, my lifestyle and ability to manage all the demands are not conducive to such things. Disposable Varsity pens, Folgers instant coffee, and Walmart jeans are who I am.

I bought a Pilot Vanishing Point a couple years ago. Total time in use probably equals up to....2hrs since I've owned it. Not because it's a terrible pen. Just because I don't write much and when I do it's usually dried up. So I cleaned it up and put it away. Started using Pilot G2 pens at home and at work. Never dry when I need them. Well, one of the Pilot G2 recently ran out of ink at work and I thought "I got this really nice expensive pen just sitting unused". So I started using the Vanishing Point again. This time I took it to work where I write a bunch more. Mostly just notes but it's more than I do at home. I guarantee you I'm the only one there using a $150 pen. :letterk1:

I have more respect for those who live within their means than those who overextend themselves and pretend they are something that they are not.

Fortunately I'm immune to the allure of the Limited Edition Pine. They also had blue and brown editions (any others?) and out of all three I'd actually say the green is the one I dislike the least. I also don't like the stainless steel ones.

I guess I'm just old-fashioned. In my world, the only acceptable color for a Lamy 2000 is black.

I would be not be surprised if they are some people out there who have all the Lamy 2000 limited editions.

I think eventually the entire collection will be worth more than the sum of the individual editions.

I am sure there a collectors or Lamy 2000 enthusiasts with deep pockets who are willing to pay.

This is a difficult assumption. Buying pens for a future financial gain is fraught with problems, made more complicated if you have to factor inflation.

There are a few pens that have seen a steady increase over the years, I can only think of a couple of makes and models that are worth today more than their original purchase price.

You might struggle with modern mass produced pens.

It is better, IMHO, to buy something that you like and want to use.
