A great barbershop-type shave

O I see it, it looks like it's apart of the straight itself. I can see the difference between the blade and the rest of the straight upon further analysis though.

There are two pieces to that straight. The handle--which is black. And the blade (attached to the handle) The blade is HUGE. It says "Model 1st" Old Sheffield" on it. It has a big curve in it. You shave with the edge of that big blade. There is nothing to change or replace. You have to sharpen that very blade (hone and strop) to keep it in shaving condition.

The blade isn't "part of the straight", it IS the straight (attached to a handle).

Sir, a straight razor is one single piece of steel with a handle called scales. It's the very sharp edge of this single piece of steel to act as the cutting part. In order to keep the edge keen and in good shaving condition you need to both strop the razor on leather and hone it on stones. Straight razors do require time, practice and a certain skill, but they reward you with the best shaves of your life.
