1/16 th rod and washers

Would you fellows tell where I can get brass rod and washers. I know Maggard's sells them but don't you have to place a 50.00 order? I just want to try my first restore and don't want to order a bunch of stuff just to fill out the order. I haved looked at the craft stores in my area without any luck.

I got my first set from maggard's. Didn't order anything else. That was a year ago though, so things may have changed

I got my first set from eBay. There are sellers who will sell enough for just a few razors. If you need a lot then I agree with Heesoo about microfasteners (buying bags of 100)

Microfasteners you'll buy in lots of 100.
if you only plan on a few restos go to a hobby shop that specializes in RC cars , trains , planes and such. Not a craft store. You'll find packs of 6 or so washers in various sizes as well as short lengths of brass rod. Enough to get you going. It did for me.
Ironically the prices for a pack of 6 or so washers at a hobby store is a bit more than a pack of 100 ( +shipping) from micro fasteners. But I still get my brass rod there in 3 ft lengths for around $2.00 ea. 9 ft. of rod and 3-400 washers and I'm good for a few months.

and if for some reason you can't find any let me know and I'll just mail you what you need to get you going.

Straightrazorparts.com is where I bought my last rod from. They also have small quantity packs of washers too. You get enough to do a razor for less that $10 shipped.

Hobby Lobby and other craft stores sell 1/16 brass rod, haven't been able to find washers locally though.

The most common washer that's used is the #0. Fits a 1/16 th rod. Any with a .062 ID will fit . Some just have larger OD which you can use to stack.

Microfasteners for collars. I see they are carrying stainless again as they weren't years ago when I last placed my order.

Your local true value or hardware store will have 1/16 brass rod. I usually buy mine at places like those. 1/16 Ni/Ag rod can be had from knife making supply stores. I use knifeandgun.com or texasknife.com
