Yaqi Katana

Yaqi Katana single edge razor (half de)
I want to hate it but I can't !
Pros: Closest thing to a modern Henkel Rapide I have used!
BBS Smooth with three passes
uses half a double edge blade so cheap
Good blade feedback
Cons: Have to fiddle with blade to load it
Not for newbies, it can bite
Blade chatter , or is it just feedback from efficient cutting ?
As much as I want to hate this razor head , I can't . It's fussy to load, it has a very large blade gap, a lot of chatter , it looks really aggressive, BUT, it is fairly forgiving conscidering it looks like it could shave bologna slices . To me, it's like shaving with a Henkel Rapide with a GEM blade in it . It gives an absolute BBS shave in three passes. The head was less than $10 on Ali in January 2025... not much to hate about the price ! I would keep it and a spare around because I really like how it performs, but I would not recommend it to a beginner. The Parker Single edge would be perfect for someone just starting out.

Good razor if your skill is adequate
Pros: • Efficient and can be used with a week+ growth.
• It's very maneuverable, the head is really slim, and there are no issues with shaving under the nose. On this question, it's a little similar to BIC Metal.
• Aggressive
• Grip is just OK, not slippery but be careful
Cons: • Aggressive:)
• Skill required. Not for newbies, you may nick yourself very easily.
• Not an easy task to find the "correct" blade for this razor
• Blade installment can take a moment or two.

Pros: Compact in those hard to reach locations.
Yaqi cheap
Cons: Blade loading is fussy
A bit agressive
She looks almost feminine pretty little thing.... but beware you might get....

Early morning..... break a blade load it in the katana bit fuzzy but it looks straight and tightened down no movement.... d... that is a nice blade gap.... carefull....
You feel the blade not the razor. It shaves agressive with my gsb not flayed but would not call it gentle. The end result is a dfs. I might have shedded a drop of something else.
This thing wakes you up.

I had several goes with the original handle and a brass one (which I like more) but the bottom line remains too agressive for my taste of a daily shaver. Good to work in tight spots.

Head is a bit overplated and blade locks might be more pronounced on this mk 2 or 3.
Decently made handle is a bit sharp pretty to look at but beware she can scratch your eyes out.

Would I buy again nope

Kijken kijken en niet kopen....
