Tabac aftershave splash

Pros: Nice smell, doesn't dry my skin
Cons: Strong, so use carefully
I wanted to try this one for a while. I found a 50ml bottle in my local supermarket so bought it.

The bottle is small (ofcourse..) and neat. Not flashy.

The scent is nice and fresh. Similar to Old Spice, to my nose, but enjoyable and clean.

Its been on 5 hours now and I can still just about detect it.

It was kind on my skin, not burning or drying at all.

This aftershave is fantastic! It smells so good and strong that I sometimes use it instead of my regular cologne. Doesn't really cool my skin and still has a slight alcohol burn. It surprizingly moisturizes well. A really top notch luxurious product. I always look forward to my tabac nights (soap and aftershave combo). Absolutely a must, gents! Enjoy.

Pros: lovely scent that matches the soap, low burn/sting
Cons: none
This is a must have for all Tabac lovers. The scent matches the soap perfectly and unlike some other alcohol based ASLs, there is very little sting when applied. It leaves the face quite nice and tight, without any dryness. I have found that this is the perfect match for my Tabac soap addiction in the summer when the weather is hot and humid. For dryer weather I prefer the ASB which has better moisturizing properties. The bottle is very nice as many other reviewers have stated, and it is extremely strong...the first time I used this product I managed to drop the bottle into the sink and then onto the floor while shaking it!!! No breakages!!! On a more cautionary note, be careful with wet hands as the bottle does not have any grippy areas!!! Also keep it separate from the EDC as they have the exact same bottle (EDC has a blue line though). Highly recommended.

The price is right for a "good" splash. It comes in a great, heavy white glass container just like the soap.

It's a classic, sort of vintage scent same as the soap. It does seem a bit floral heavy immediately after application but that subsides after a bit and it settles in with a scent more true to the soap.

Doesn't burn me really and feels refreshing. I am going to get my Wife's honest opinion because she is sensitive to over powering fragrances and "to me" this is not over powering.

It will be in rotation with my regulars - Old Spice, Superior 70, Aqua Velva Ice Blue & Clubman.

PRICE - $23.00 for an unbelievably massive bottle of aftershave. I give it a 10.

QUALITY - Everything about this screams quality, from the outer box, the thick ceramic bottle and screw on cap, to the ingredients of the aftershave itself. Another 10.

FIGHTS RAZOR BURN - I've had pretty good shaves lately with minimum razor burn, but his has done a nice job with any redness or irritation I may have had. I'll give it a 7 here.

COOLING SENSATION - An alcohol based aftershave with no menthol; not applicable.

SCENT - Wow! 70's power scent meets classic barbershop. Similar to but not nearly as funky as the soap (which I love too); rather an intoxicating, masculine blend of powder, citrus, spice, and musk. Nice lasting power without being overpowering. Deserving of a 10 and then some.

EFFICACY - does exactly what a good alcohol splash should do; disinfect, tone, tighten, and leave your face feeling smooth. Easily a 9.

MOISTURIZING - again, this is an alcohol based splash. If you want a moisturizer, use a good balm. N/A

NO ALCOHOL BURN - If it's got alcohol, it's gonna burn; some people even like it. Having said that, I've had many that burned a lot worse. 9 here.

This has immediately jumped into my top 3 or 4 aftershaves; simply a must have for all wet shavers. My only regret is that i took me so long to give it a try.

Being new to alcohol aftershaves, I thought I would try Tabac aftershave lotion, or as it is also called, the aftershave splash 68%, as it is also reffered to here in the review. I bought the aftershave in London on a holiday in a Boots pharmacy for 18 pounds, for 150 ml. A fair price. I used the product together with the soap. It stinged quite a bit while I applied it and warmed my face, and afterwards it felt soothed and nice and I applied my daycream. Several hours afterwards I could still smell the wonderfull smell, manly, astethic, clean. My skin looked and felt great, and I cannot help thinking that the aftershave had something to do with it! In general a fantastic aftershave to use with a Tabac soap. I cannot speak about using it with other soaps because I have not tried that yet. I really recommend the aftershave:thumbup:

Best regards Michael from Denmark

Tabac aftershave lotion is good stuff. It's surprisingly mild (less alcohol content than DR Harris for example), heals razor burn rather well for an alcohol splash, and really does leave the skin soft and smooth. No menthol, so it doesn't give a cooling sensation. And perhaps mot importantly, it diesn't over-dry the skin like many alcohol splashes are wont to do.

The scent, as with all things Tabac, is polarizing. You'll either like it or you won't. It's less floral than the soap, and has more leather and wood than the cologne. It's probably the most masculine of the trio.

Think soft, clean, airy musk with orange blossom, a little carnation and some spice resting on a woody base. It's good stuff.

Had to get this after all i have read about it and its easy to get here in the uk, i paid £9.90 for it so a fair price but i dont know if i like the scent, on the 1 hand its quite nice but i also find it very old fashioned and a bit of a cheap smell harking back to the 70's, does not seem to burn much or give any cooling/moisturising benifits but i will keep using it to see if the scent grows on me and as its easy to buy its a good option.

I first started off with the Tabac aftershave as a teenager surprisingly enough. It was a good strong smell that, although I wouldn't wear now, helped to get rid of other odours - I remember my mother cooking rabbit stew (for those that don't know it smells like: :9898: ) and the best way for me to get rid of the smell was to hide under the covers in bed with a bottle of Tabac held under my nose.

Unfortunately, the sting I get from it is too much to be able to use it and the scent is a little too strong for everyday use. I've heard the 'mild' version would be good but I can't find it anywhere!! I would highly recommend it though for use as a moisturising after shave lotion. It does provide a good cover on freshly shaved skin. If you like the sting, it's just what the doctor ordered.

I would stay away from the spray versions and definitely not one for mixing with other scents.

My desert island aftershave. I never want to be without it - I love this aftershave.

Its so great, I bought a massive bottle for home, and kept the little bottle for travel.

My face is healed if it needs healing, moisturised if it needs moisture, I wouldnt be surpised if it sang a little song if thats what my skin needed.

It gets perfect 10s from me. Its cheap, smells great and works a charm. There is nothing I would change about it.

I can't get enough if this stuff. Brings back old memories of by-gone days of manliness (this stuff is definitely not floral). I use it after those special shaves when everything comes together. BBS, no weepers and pure shaving pleasure. IMHO this product does not have the cheapo tackiness that some other drug-store products have which are in the same price range. I'm thinking brut 33 here fellas... The smell lasts for an hour or so on me which is fine.

The Tabac, for what it is, is a very basic performance aftershave that accomplishes what it's supposed to and little more beyond that.

The scent, however, is very nice. It's a much earthier, more masculine scent than the EDC or EDT, and lasts about as long. It's one of those scents that you'll either love or hate, and I personally love it.

I splash it on liberally after a Tabac shave ... why would I use anything else with Tabac?

It burns a little, but not enough to be a problem. I leave my face wet after a cold-water splash, so that helps dilute it. Then I rub some around the back of my neck, as I do with all ASLs.

I let it air-dry before I put on an unscented ASB. It makes my skin look and feel great, and it carries that Tabac scent forward for several hours after I shave.

What more can one ask from an ASL?

A realy nice old school AS. I guess I've used at least a 6-pack of 100 ml bottles by now and my second choice AS (after Old Spice in glass bottles).
Don't try this if you don't want to stand (smell) out; you might not smell it anymore after an hour or so but it really is a longstayer.
When I wash my face the next day or when I get back in my car after a day's work the fragrance is still there.
Best dispencer bottle ever; you really have this one in control.
I don't like this every day (like their shaving soap) but it is really good and there will always be a bottle nearby for me.

This has rapidly become one of my favourite aftershaves. It is very kind to my skin, as good as speick in my opinion, but with a better scent. It smells kinda odd in the bottle but once on the skin it settles into a strong, smooth masculine scent. Really great product.

I've been using Tabac AS for a few months now, and it has become one of my very favorite aftershaves. The scent is masculine and fresh, not the same scent as the soap but firmly in the same scent family. And what a scent it is. I don't know how to describe it except that it is unbelievably pleasant.

As others mentioned, the stopper design allows you to shake out exactly how much you need, but never spill out too much. The whole bottle is nicely designed. I find that it does a great job toning up my face after shaving. It has no menthol and no real cooling sensation, but it doesn't need it at all.

I gave lower marks in price, because in the U.S. it is expensive, but keep in mind that if you like it you will gladly pay for it. I bought the 10 oz. bottle and I'm very glad to have that much, and will gladly pay the price again and again. I will never let this stuff run out, and if I find out they're changing the formula or going out of business I will spend vast amounts of money to assure my stockpile is well filled.

Fantastic stuff!

Tabac is a very nice, warm, spicy and truly masculine aftershave that reminds us of the past, yet being so different to anything available today makes it unique and actually very modern. The scent is very discrete and never overwhelming.
This aftershave does wonders to your skin. It is quite moisturizing and cools very well. The price here in Sweden is 20 Euro for 100 ml (3,4 Oz). I think it is very competitive price that can easily be justified by this product's unique quality.

I got this along with the soap about three months ago and have been using it constantly this summer since I find that balms are appropriate in the winter for me.

I love the fact that the design of the bottle prevents one from spilling the contents. It performs just as the way it should, whenever I do feel the burn its an indication that I was too aggressive. As far as the smell goes, its a classic for sure, can be a bit strong initially.

Surprisingly my skin doesn't get dry after using so I would give some bonus points right there. Overall I think an excellent product for the price ($14).

I skp those ratings. My words only.

First the bottle, it is same color design as Tabac soap. White on reddish brown top cork. Mine was only 50 ml one bought locally here. 9 euro, so average price, not but not too expensive either. It is glass one, same material as the bowl. Feels classy. And sturdy.

When opened, I notice it cannot be poured on like some cheaper aftershaves. Needs to shake on your palm. So not danger to replenish the stuff too fast.

The scent is really lovely. It has as some already posted floral and also some leathery scents. The package told alcohol first, so this has it more than aqua (=water).

I like applying it to my face after the shave. It might sting a bit, but not much, the right amount. Mostly it is the scent, but also it leaves the face quite well taken care of after a few shave irritations. It is not perhaps my best aftershave splash in relieving and moisturizing the skin. The Berner old Barracuda is a bit better I think.

It those classy moments when you had have a good shave and want to apply this golden aftershave. I will use this a lot, perhaps most time.

In contrast, I used old cheap Mennen Skin Bracer and got tired of it soon. Tabac splash is a keeper for me instead. The scent does not last very long though. Nor does it need to.
