AOS Unscented continues to be my gold standard for creams. It consistently produces a lush, thick, luxurious, slippery lather every time. I'm very open to alternatives. But, no other cream I have tried such as Castle, and the three T's produce a lather and experience of this high quality. I have decided that I don't like scented creams. Most of them either smell medicinal or artificial. It's definitely a YMMV situation. I also feel that scented creams - because of their additives - have more of a tendency to irritate the skin. That said, if I found a scented-only cream that performed better than this, well, I'd use it. Yes, it's upfront costs are a bit higher. However, they are competitive with the upper-range creams - really no expensive than any other premium cream. You use very little of it for each shave so a tub or tube last a long time. Most things in life aren't worth the extra money. This one is! In the broad scheme of things what's a few extra pennies every day? Certainly a better and cheaper "investment" than a store-bought cup of coffee or can of soda every day.

AOS gets a bad rap around here because they are a P&G company. Or have fancy stores or whatever. I say, "WHO CARES!" In the final analysis, a product either delivers or it doesn't. In my opinion, AOS Unscented Cream really delivers like no one else out there.

Art of Shaving Cream Unscented!

Well, I'm a tallow guy (Tabac, Prairie-Creations) and I get a sample pack of this AOS cream with a brush purchase I made. It sat around in the drawer for six months and I finally pulled it out, wanted to use up all the little stuff hanging around. And...

I was impressed. I face lather, so a small dab in the brush, and go to it. Immediate full explosive lather, thick, slippery, easy on the nose, plenty for three passes. Combine this with an Astra and my Mergress and I've have three days of very very nice non-irritating, good-face-feeling-afterwards, shaves. Left my face feeling soft. Checking prices it does seem a bit on the pricey side, but if I found some on sale would definitely by it and put it into the rotation.

I've been wet shaving for about a year and have tried quite a few different creams. So far, this one is the best. I have very, very sensitive skin and must use a cream that is very mild or it will leave my face red. This one does the trick. I'm surprised by some of the posts that say it stings. My face stings when I use even the most sensitive products... and this one works great for my face.

Price: It really isn't all that bad of a price, but it is on the higher end...

Quality: This cream is just beautiful to look at. The cream itself. It's a shiny, fluffy, white cream. The shaves are always very good. Little or no irritation after the shave. I feel a very slight burning sensation on my later passes, and that's the only reason that I didn't give this cream a 10 in quality.

Scent: Some really hate the unscented scent. I understand perfectly. You can call me crazy, but I really love it. It's a really weird scent. DO NOT buy this for the scent unless you've already smelled it.

Latherability: Beautifully thick and dense lather. Really easy to whip it up too. Under a minute. Really really nice stuff here.

Efficacy: It works.

Moisturizing: Use an ASB for that. For me at least, no creams or soaps have made my skin feel like I can go without an ASB after my shave.

Packaging: I don't like the design of the sticker, because it's not classic and it's not modern. It's a bad label. The container however is really nice. A shiny black jar that goes perfectly with everything else I have around my sink.

Overall, a great cream. I don't use it all the time, because of that slight burn, but the thought of the burn (for me at least. It may be totally different for you) is actually worse than the tingling feeling I get while shaving...I would still recommend a QED shaving soap over this though (but I would recommend one of those over any product out there)...

The initial price might scare some away but it doesn't take much to get a great lather going. I have the travel size pump and I keep thinking its going to run out and it hasn't yet. A better value would be to buy the tub. As it seems with all creams you get more for you money with the tubs.

High quality cream for people that don't like a scented cream. I found some other "no scent" creams still had some kind of odor and this one doesn't have any smell at all. Protects the face well and moisturizes at the same time. I have a tub of the AoS Sandalwood ( also great cream ) so I can say the tub they use is nice looking and seals very well. Also looks good sitting next to all my other creams. Some of AoS other stuff seems to be pricey but the creams seem to be worth it for how great they work and how long they last.

Happy Shaving :thumbup1:
This is the only shaving cream I have used so far. I don't really have anything to compare it to. But, I have to say that it really works great for me. Whips up fast and creamy and leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth. Like I said this is the only shaving cream I have used so far. I don't even know what most of the others cost. I do know CF is $34.00 and that's ten dollars higher. I sure that it can't be but a few dollars higher than the others. I would not give the product a low rating because it's cost 2 or 3 dollars more than some of the others. Not that I'm a rich man, but a couple of bucks doesn't mean that much to me. The other thing is that people give a low rating because of the scent. It is an unscented product, to be far I going to give an 10 because I wanted unscented. I like everything about this product, I really enjoy using it. I can wait to try all the new creams and soap that I have heard so much about on B&B.

So I've had a bunch of samples of this cream for awhile and finally gave it a shot today. No problems lathering, scent not disagreeable, doesn't dry my face out, etc. Basically it works pretty well except for one big thing: it gave me a mild stinging sensation on the second pass that seem to get worse with the third pass and the touch up. Since I had a brand new blade (a Swede, my favorite for now) and other creams in my rotation don't give me this problem I'm going to have to attribute it to the cream. I don't know if there is a certain ingredient that bothered my skin or if it is the PH of the cream or what. What I do know is that I won't be buying any AOS cream.

i have just received a sampler of this cream after having many problems getting any sort of lather from other creams and straight away from a very small amount i did manage to make enough for 3 good passes so i will indeed be investing a tub of this fine stuff, i think for the money you cant go wrong :001_smile

I liked this cream...a lot. It has all the good properties I look for in a cream (minus the scent, it is unscented after all). This stuff lathers and moisturizes like a dream. My shaves with this product were all top notch and didn't lack anything that I felt should have been there. That being said, this stuff is pretty pricy. You can find many comparably good products out there with more budget respectful prices. This is definitely more of a luxury cream. The one bonus is that I can get it locally at their stores or order it with free shipping from Amazon.com. I probably won't be buying any myself anytime soon but if I received as a gift it would be well received.

This was the first "real" shaving cream I used. It's still one of my favorites. I like it because it just works. It works, and works well. Anybody could whip up a good lather with this stuff. It has good cushioning, lubrication, and moisturizing properties. If you want a good cream, give AOS a try.

It's a good shaving cream, but I find it overpriced, like must of the AoS products. It lathers fine & gives you a good shave, and there is not much to say about the scent, since it doesn't have one. I prefer C&E & Proraso, but if you find it on sale, go and get it.

Got a bag full of samples when I bought my brush from them on a trip to Las Vegas last year. The lather is truly impressive, and if I could just look at that and the price I'd be set.

But this stuff is horrible for me. It burns. It really, really burns. It's the most irritating product I've ever put on my skin. The best I can figure, it's meant to be very astringent in order to cut through the gooey pre-shave oil they also sell, but in my case it was horrible.

Since they'd given me so many samples of both the cream and the oil I tried various combinations of the two. If I used enough oil the cream wouldn't burn much, but then I'd get out of the shower and just feel sticky from the oil.

Sad, 'cause I like the brush, the price is good, and they have a store that's very convenient for me. Oh well.

awesome cream, i gave it an 8 for price because the 22 dollars go a long way and you wont run out for about a year so its something like 2 dollars a month

this cream is on par with about every other AOS cream, i have SCAD and all the AOS's have the best lather i have seen

This is one of my favorite creams.

Prices (early part of 2008) at USD$22/5.3 oz, this product is within the price range of high quality creams, and for me, delivers on that point.

With a peanut sized scoop, I can easily get enough thick rich lather for 4 passes (although I usually end up finishing at 3).

How thick and rich is the cream? I have a thick beard, and I can let a layer of this lather sit on my face without seeing any of my hairs- there arent many creams or soaps that I can say that about.

It provides a good lubrication for shaving, and leaves my face feeling soft and well moisturized.

I find myself grabbing this tub more often than my Truefitt.
