5. Oddest TDY involved RAF Greenham Common. The construction site was off base and we had to traffic through the single-lane gate in the morning and evening. There were a good many British women (and a fair number of American women) protesters that took exception to the nuclear-tipped GLCMs on site. The air base is gone now and Google shows it as some kind of commercial / business park.

I served active duty Army (USA) from 1989-1997. I made E6 the month I got out, but decided to become a civilian instead, as planned. I was a 46R, which is a Broadcast Journalist. I was stationed throughout South Korea from 89-91 with Armed Forces Korea Network, then from 92-95 at Armed Forces Network Europe Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. Did a lot of deployments while I was there. Finished my career as an anchor and reporter for Soldiers Radio and Television at the Pentagon. Attached are photos of me and President H.W. Bush in Somalia, 1993. Myself and my cameraman in Somalia and the Secretary of the Army presenting me with the 1995 Army Broadcast Journalist of the Year award.
