What's new

Yay, it's WILLY'S WEDNESDAY.

I have 5 tucks that came with my Pearl Flexi OC. I haven't tried them because of my typical trend of sticking to blades that I like. And I've heard mixed reviews about the Willy's blades.
But considering that a thread was created and I read some positives, I'll give them a try!

I got excited but it turns out they only ship in India - Shipping Policy – Glow Shines - https://glowshines.com/shipping-policy/

I tried the cart, which confirmed this :-(
Oh. I'll check with the owner and see what they say.

On a side note, I am using the 50 Willy's blades bundled with the Pearl Flexi black edition.

These new blades seem pretty rough and dull. I am a bit surprised. To check of it was a problem with the razor, I used it on settings 1, 2 and 3 to rule out any alignment issues. I just found the shaves lacking.

So far I am not impressed with these new batch of blades. I'll try a different razor to validate.

So far these news are barely one and done.

I guess if I can't get them easily, hearing this kind of thing helps! Although on balance I am usually happier knowing there are more good blades in the world, even if they're inaccessible to me...

After posting my gloom review of a few blades from the last tuck, I took out a new blade from a different tuck which came with the Pearl Flexi Black edition.

I used thr Razorock Super Slant OC 2++ on 3 days of growth.

The shave was very smooth and amazing. 2 passes and a touch up passes did a good job of giving an excellent BBS shave.

The blade performed well. Was the first tuck terrible or was the razor blade combo not so good ?

I'll look up the old tuck and use it in a different razor to see how it fares.

Great weekend folks !

A superb shave.

My Number 1 favorite Closed Comb razor, the Knockout (No. 2 Phoenix Quantum Alpha and No. 3 Lambda Athena), led this magical shaving team.

Happy shaves guys. :cornut:

Willy's are new to my vocabulary, what is so great about em?:letterk1:

I find them very smooth and also plenty sharp. They remind me of the Polsilver SI and the Wizamet SI blades. Frankly, one of the reasons I love using the Willy's blades is their lack of glue or wax. I know how to remove the goop, but why go to the trouble when Willy's blades don't require it of me.

That's just my point of view. I'm certainly no expert on any of these blades, but I know what I like.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Gotta count my Willy's blades. I know I have some, and I might have a couple or three tucks, but I don't know.

Pearl seems to have them now. The shipping to the US is staggering considering the cost of the blades, and there are some offered elsewhere at a lower price including shipping, but I don't know anything about the vendors - PinkWoolf & a eBay vendor - either good or bad.

Right now I'm pondering. I'm in no hurry.

Happy shaves,

Jim

What is the differences between the Polsilver SI and Wizamet SI? Are they much different from each other? I've tried the Wizamet SI and don't love them. Is it worth trying the Polsilver SI, or are they going to be similar?

Also, just curious, how do you remove the wax/glue from your blades?

To me, that is, to my skin, Wizamet SI and Polsilver SI blades are the same.

Others disagree.

By using a Q-tip soaked with acetone.

Alcohol works, too, but not quite as well as acetone.

This is followed by a quick rinse with hot water.

Most of the goop can be removed using a fingernail and hot running water, but the process is easier, faster, and more complete with acetone and a Q-tip.

Happy shaves,

@Chan Eil Whiskers
Exclusively for my curiosity, do you know the name of the manufacturer of these Willy's blades?
I think they are connected to the Indian razor company Pearl or am I wrong?

Perhaps when the blades arrive I'll remember to look carefully at the packaging.

(Hendrix sent me the wrong blades by mistake, but the right blades should arrive soon. They were very nice about it.)

Happy shaves,

Jim

I got 55 of these Willy's DE blades with my Pearl Flexi this morning, and as far as I've read they're very good Indian blades. I'm gonna load one of these blades in my Pearl Flexi when I shave with it for the first time. There's been a lot of excellent quality inexpensive double edge blades coming out of India, and it's really cool. It's looking like India's gonna supply a lot of my double edge blades in the future

I've ordered a hundred Willy's blades from a vendor I just stumbled across. The price including shipping was acceptable albeit not wonderful.

Here's the link. The company is Hendrix Classics. I know nothing about this vendor.

Happy shaves,

Jim
I know the proprietor of Hendrix Classics personally, his name is Pete Hendrix and he's a great guy. They also make some great shaving soaps and splashes, amongst my favorites.

In my very limited interactions with Pete he's been a very standup businessman.

My order for Willy's blades was incorrect. They'd sent the wrong brand. When I notified him, he apologized, and told me he'd fix it right away. That didn't happen, so, in a week or so, I notified him again. He again apologized, and told me what happened, taking responsibility for the screwup. He also said he'd fix it, which he did.

Pete sent me a few extra tucks of some of his favorite blades to try.

I've been using this brand, from Pete, for the last seven or eight shaves. I like the blades a lot. I'm likely to order more. (Even though the don't appear on the Hendrix Classics website I suspect he must have them in stock.)

Yes, I got a very good impression of Pete and his company through these interactions. He went out of his way to be pleasant, helpful, and to take responsibility.

I will do more business with Pete for sure.

Happy shaves,

Jim
