King C. Gillette

Yes, I compared the Russian KCG vs Chinese KCG over about 12 shaves. The Chinese KCG is very sharp but not as smooth as the Russian blade and doesn't last as long as the Russian blade. The Chinese KCG is a good blade - as long as you aren't comparing it to the Russian KCG which is an excellent blade.

Thank you. It is disapointing considering how good the Russian KCG were. For me the best gillette blade, only sold for a short amount of time at a price that discouraged people to try it.

I have been using these King C.s' and I have noticed that they are inconsistent for me. My first blade was great and did about 12 shaves before I switched it. This one blade and all successive blades from that first one has done about 5-7 blades before it goes dull or becomes inconsistent. I think I will be staying with the astra and the primes.

If you want to try before you buy, consider checking out the Great Blade Exchange. The link is in my signature at the bottom of this post.

For me the Russian KCG was in the legendary status. The coating on that edge was exceptional and Gillette's best, similar in many ways to the no longer produced Gillette platinum "Swedes" (light blue packaging). Then poof gone, the alternative is what's available and it's just not as good IMO. I'm glad from FOMO that I sit on a stockpile of Swedes, Wizzys, Nacets, and Permasharps. At least the Blacks are still available and they perform very well.

Just in case you need to replenish, I believe the Nacet, Perma-Sharp and other Russian Gillette blades will still be available here on the gray market. They're produced for places like the Middle East and Turkey, that don't have the same trade restrictions as the USA & Europe. It's only a few like Astra, Platinum and KCG that were moved to other countries. @ivan_101 has posted about it a bit.

This morning I found these King C. Gillette blades in a shop selling detergents and personal care items; I already have a lot of blades and did not want to buy them.
Cost 5€ 30 cents the pack of 10 blades is ok not too much but I'm already too comfortable with GSBs.

:001?huh:
You tell that to the men in India (or any other non-Western country).
I don't doubt that, which is why we are talking about it in an American forum, a western country.
If you go to marketplaces like Aliexpress and the like, there are many other Chinese blades totally unknown here and cost even more than the Gillette King C.

Or if it's too high a price for us, it should be those who produce them and sell them at that price who should explain to us why.

So I like the Chinese KCG enough to have bought a few packs. I also have some Russian-made ones, but I am afraid to try them and have my favorable opinion broken. :)

I said before if one comes into the evaluation without comparing it to another blade, one might very well like the Chinese KCG. It is hard to replace a loved product with a substitute. One is bound to find reasons to reject the new item.

Maybe one of the Latin American members can chime in and compare the KCG that’s made in Brazil.

Have only used the Russian KCG myself, it was a fine blade

I know Gillette Brazil has been in production for a long time, but very few blades ever get mentioned on here.

I got a good deal on the KCG razor and I liked it and the blades. My son wanted a razor so I gave it to him and he basically ruined it. Not a big deal.

A 100 pack of KCG Chinese blades came up on sale so I grabbed it. The Chinese KCG was good, but not quite as good as the PPI.
