What's new

Long time -- No visit... New razor..

Hello all :w00t:

Been a while since my last visit. I have not strayed from the righteous path though

I came across a really strange razor yesterday.

The only markings i can find are:
Made in Sweden
Patent No 60298

120 mm in length
Made from a white-yellowish metal
Edit: Put it on the scales today, 110 gr. or 3.88 oz

The strange bit in all this is the spinning action...

One can twist a knurly section towards the bottom, this action puts tension to an internal spring or other.

Press a button at the bottom and the head spinns like mad

For those to lazy to shake off the water i guess:blink:

I'll try to post a photo once i get back home at the beginning of next week.

All the BEST!
/Magnus

I tried to find the pic of the one I saw on-line but I couldn't find it. I think you might have an aftermarket handle made in the fifties. It was designed to spin water off the head. I'll keep looking for a pic/link.

Hope this works :blushing:

The head spins to clean off the soap???? Man, you better hope you get the walls, mirror, and ceiling cleaned up before SWMBO finds out. That is one odd looking razor but fascinating none the less. Thanks for posting.

I love when people who have an imagination design and build things. Reminds me of something Tim Burton would have drawn up. Very interesting razor, I like it.

Why does one side of the head have more teeth than the other?

my guess is that the side with less teeth exposes more blade, and is the more aggressive side...possibly the thinking was to have the first passes with the open side, and the follow up passes with the mild side...very unique design,a great collectors piece

Here it is in the 1925 Chemist and Druggist weekly in London....

A razor to rapidly throw off water......

Wow:w00t: Great find!! They did actually reach a wider market with their inventions:thumbup1:

I trawled the Swedish Patent and Registration Office last night and i believe the apparatus mentioned might be this invention by the same gentlemen:thumbup:

If You would like to look att pictures, nay, drawings, of razors from as early as 1921, go tohttp://www.prv.se/spd/search?lang=en&tab=1 type rakhyvel or razor in the search box.
You will get different results from rakhyvel and razor so try both :001_cool:
