all I can say :
Plisson cream, soap and Maison du barbier cream, soap are the same products, just the packaging colour is different

And now the prices I saw this week in Carrefour :

Soap with bowl : 10 euros
soap refill (100 gr) : 5.30 euros
cream ( 100 ml) : 5.3 euros
brush : 20.10 euros (same as the Access in the plisson website)

Have a nice day

Can I get Maison du barbier stuff in ANY Carrefour in Paris or do I need to go to a Carrefour hypermarket in paris??

I don't think there are any hypermarkets close to central paris - is this right?

Not having any luck finding it. Maybe search is limited to each store.

It's not tried their cream, but I can highly recommend Pre de Provence soap. It lathers easily into a thick, slick, creamy lather. The scent is subtle, like that of sage. If the cream is as good as the soap, go for both.

It is great but I don't think you can get it in France - unless it goes by a different label?

I would be surprised if this soap is made only for export. Under a different label? Could be. The name of the company that makes the soap is on bottom label of my soap's container. Water has sort of floated away the name, so I can't provide you with that.

It is good soap, among the best I have tried. Every bit as good as Tabac IMHO.

I think he meant you can't just pick it up at a typical store.

Yes. But some products are export only - like some bourbons and some cognac labels which you cannot get in the country of origin.

Who makes PdP anyway?

La Masion du Barbier, and by extension, Plisson and Joris soaps do indeed smell great. But they do not contain tallow or lanolin (anymore?), a great disappointment.

It seems this is too hard to find - unless you know a store in Paris?

Sometimes you can find nice products at local groceries...go inside and take a look.I've find Iridiums at € 0.60 a 10 pack, such as Derbys and nice forgotten razors...take a look around!!

At Paris, there is now a classical (since 1885) flea market: the bigger one is the Puces de St.Ouen at Porte de St. Ouen and Porte de Clignancourt, at north, 9 A.M 5- P.M, sat, sun and mon - you can find razors there, mainly the UK ones but USA issued too, but you will need the coolness of a thieft to bargain with them...They know this kind of things are guided by emotion (or object fanaticism...) and they do not make things easier bargaining... Stay cool, and before offering look around at ceramics laying on floor, old pots and pans, ask prices of it, just before laying on your election object...Low profile is the key!! And go soon in the morning...of course, you will not beat the pros' who each weekend are at fair at 5A.M trying to find that week newcome objects but you can have luck over late and regular customers.

Pré de Provence seems to be especially made for the American market (that's my impression). In any case I've never seen it in France.

Interesting if true. The market for this kind of soap is very limited here in the states and I have never seen it in a retail store, only on line. Of course my retail shopping experience is pretty limited and I could be very wrong.

I often am.

Dave,
If you are in the Houston area, check an HEB Central Market. When I was at the one in San Antonio they had Pre de Provence on the shelf. Soap, cream and aftershave balm. They also had Provence Sante as well.

The Central Market at Wesleyan and Westheimer does carry many of PdP's other products but not shaving cream or shaving soap. I check every time I go in (about every 2 weeks). Lots of hand soap and bath soap and stuff that my wife might like.

I was there a few weeks ago and didn't see any either. With Thanksgiving coming up and that CM generally has the stuff Kroger's doesn't carry, I will check again.

Also, thanks to Sueto for the heads up as well.

Side note. Life Check Drugs next to Rice Epicurean on San Felipe in the Galleria area sells Italian made Cella and Valobra. They are $12.00 each. Both are outstanding and oh so slick. There is guy named Mike there. He can order a lot of products. If they don't carry it, ask him and maybe he can get it.

I don't know why you wouldn't buy anything and everything you see.

You might not make it back.

I could kick myself for not buying all the creams at the grocery when I was on Corsica. I have no clue what I was thinking. However, I did buy Monsavon, and my life is great because of it.
