Default 1st time Tabac user report

I got my Tabac today and shaved with it using my new Rooney 2/1 super.

Nice bowl.

Interesting scent. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me during the shave. It is a unique, complex, and sophisticated scent. The scent is "serious" to me. Tabac isn't messing around when it comes to shaving!

Great lather. It has a different character, compared to my other soaps and creams. The lather is rich. Using Tabac is like eating steak, using Col. Conk glycerin is like eating salad, and using l'occitane CADE is like eating pasta, hahaha. Perhaps this new texture is from the tallow? This is my first tallow based soap.

I could tell the soap is hard...it will last a while!

I got it at fragrancex with free shipping. Excellent value considering it provides A+ performance, comes with a nice ceramic bowl and lid, and it seems like it will last a long time.

It is the best? Mmmm...not sure, but it definitely has a solid spot in my rotation.

It's good stuff. I was kind of puzzled by the scent at first, but now I like it so much I use the EDC quite often.

I think there is some kind of sick addictive chemical in it...

Tabac is great thats for sure mate.

For the price its hard to beat, especially considering you get a cool ceramic bowl.

I, unfortunately, remain puzzled.

Just a general comment on reviewing soaps overall:

I don't think you can make an informed decision about any soap after just one use. Give it time - use it everyday for a month and then make your mind up as to how good it is or if indeed it is the best.

When trying out a new soap, I like to use it with all my razors, all my aftershaves / balms and indeed during several seasons - winter, spring and summer to say the least.

I just tried Tabac for the first time this morning and loved it. Unfortunatly I can't smell so i'll have to take everyones word on the scent, on a good note SWMBO said "I like that smell" so thats a plus.

Does the EDT spray smell like the soap? I have my first round of Tabac soap coming (just ordered it last night from fragrancex.com as well with free shipping). I almost ordered the EDT spray also, but I really do not like blind buying of scents, so I figured I would give the soap a chance first.

I got my first tub recently too from fragrancex. Tabac is worthy of all the praise it gets. I liked the scent right out of the gates. It smells great!

I agree, Tabac is the best soap. I like Proraso and KMF for creams just as well though.

Glad you liked it....it is a wonderful shave.

However TABAC scent is definitely a love/hate....I hate. The mere thought spraying on the cologne of this scent makes me shudder...

You are correct. Mäurer & Wirtz is the German company that makes Tabac, Irisch Moos, and several other fragrances.

I used Tabac during tabactober and after learning to load it on my C&E BB with ebony handle, its a really good soap. I leave it and MWF out because all my other creams and soaps now get kinda not used. I use the Blenheim Bouquet on special ocassion. I had to make it through the rough part of my F-AC blade so that the soap could shine and it did.

I waited quite some time before I tried Tabac. I'm sorry I did. Now I use it for most of my shaves.

Me too!.
Last talo soap I tried (from Trumpers) burned my face. So I stuck to glycerin soaps for a long time. I finaly tried Tabac about 3 mo. ago and was very impressed, I bought 2 more rounds 3 weeks ago to stock up.
