I did try rubbing the Williams (which had been soaked and was soft) on my face and face lathering but came out with still bad lather and results. I have two creams....well three but I can not use the CO Bigelow because it sets my face on fire. The two I have and can use are TRSC sensitive skin and a 1oz sample of KMF fragrance free. From what I am finding, the RSC lathers better and gives better lubrication than the KMF.

I have no problem shaving with williams now. I have found you basically need to get a hell of a lot of soap off the puck first, then have a nice wet face. Using a boar brush helps this process.
How does it shave? Pretty good. Not Tabac good, but good. Is it worth $0.97? Definitely.

Makes sense to use a boar brush now that you mention it. Humm... and yes... worth a buck for sure.

I know how to make it lather thank you.
Keeping it looking LIKE THIS no matter WHAT you DO it will start to DRY by the time you get the camera out and capture the picture.
Trust me I learned to shave fast and can do an entire side before the camera even boots.
If you add more water, all you get is suds, and you may as well rub dish detergent on your face.
Note this is my VDH and the Williams comes out looking a little more fluffy for me.

Touchy aren't we?
Look, all I am saying, and I really do mean all I am saying, is that you need to use more water than normal with Williams. The pucks are extremely hard and are almost devoid of any moisture when you first use them.
If you can't take some friendly advice, then so be it.

Another way to judge the consistency of the lather would be to lather in your cupped hand. That allows you to rub your fingers together occasionally to feel the lubricity and cushion.
'Just a thought.

I am becoming interested in making a better lather. I just make some a few time a day now to practice.

Even if Williams smelled good to me, which it does not, I would not try after reading all the difficult time s many have trying to make it lather well. I'll stick with my VDH, and maybe try some others from time to time, but Williams will never be on that list.

I used Williams this morning. Here's how I do it. First, prime the damp brush with a dash of your favorite cream (I use Bigelow), a little dab in the heart of the brush. Wet the Williams puck. Wet your face (assuming you've done a good prep already). Load the brush with Williams. Face lather (soapy), then dab the brush tips in water, shake, face lather some more (gets better). Dab the brush tips in water again, face lather again (should be getting way better). Maybe one more round. Should be thick and creamy. Good luck! The cream booster really helps.

You gotta use a boar on Williams. I mistakenly tried to make some lather with a puck and my B&B/Kent LE 08 brush. Simply did not cut it. Had to switch over to my Semogue 1305.

Ahh yes the 1305, quite the awesome retro looking brush!

Super Lather is cheating!! It's basically admitting, that the product is so sucktacular on it's own, that it needs a boost from another product to even be usable.
I have never been able to get a good lather out of Williams, I can certainly make the product usable by Super Lathering with Kiss My Face Unscented. I can get both products locally, so if I wanted to use only locally available products, this would be an option: but not the most viable option, as I don't like the Lemon Verbena/ Citronella scent of Williams.
Also, the two products would cost about $7 when bought together, and at that price, I am well on the way to buying better products.

I used VDHd this AM, and got one of the best shaves and lathers yet. Nice, thick creamy lather.
