Back to soap after years of body wash
Yet another soap/bodywash thread... I'm feeling much cleaner though, actually squeaky clean, compared to the body wash that left me feeling slippery, I suspect some sort of additive they use as a moisturizer...
I'm currently using Canus Goat's Milk Soap (original formula) It's clean smelling, but not 100% pleasant, but hey that's what Penhaligon's is for right?!
Can anyone recommend some other widely available soaps (actual soap, not detergent bars) that I can check out, maybe something with a bit more of a kick in the fragrance department.
FWIW I absolutely loathe the scent of Ivory to the point where it almost makes me feel physically ill.
I figure I've got to give the soap a month or so trial run before I decide how I like it entirely, but there's no harm in checking out other options; after all what's B&B without ADs...

If you have a Whole Foods available, their French made, triple milled Shea Butter soaps are outstanding. They're available in a good variety of scents and are a good value compared to L'Occitane or Pre d'Provence (both of which are excellent, btw)

I'm sure there are enough soapers here to sort you out if not I personally know of two who make soap back from lye. PM me if you need too.

Trader Joes has their own house brand which smell fantastic, all 3x milled French w/shea butter. Comes in: lavendar, plain shea, lemon verbena, green tea. They also have their own (non-3x milled tho) oatmeal honey.
They also carry a small selection of Tom's of Maine.

And here I thought body wash was a new phenomenon. Hard to believe someone could have used it for years. I find a bar of good old Ivory hard to beat.

I really like Pears, which is widely available in the UK, not sure about Canada...
It's been around for years.
Sort of spicy smell, very refreshing. I find it cleans very well indeed and doesn't dry you out much, and it's dirt cheap over here!

I've tried several soaps, some of then vere kind of fancy, but every time I'm going back to Dove cream bar. It fits my skin and needs the best. But YMMV .

I have not used it in the shower, but I really like Yardley. A buck a bar, and it comes in Lavender, and Oatmeal and Almond scents.

I have not used any other soaps that you can not get from a Walmart...you know the deal. Dial, Coast, Zest, etc. I also use shower gels...again from Wally"s World. However I do happen to like this soap sold @ Think Geek

My local Stop & Shop has it, but I also hear you can get it at dollar stores. Dollar tree lets you buy it in bulk too.

Grandpas Pine Tar Soap
Easy on the skin for people with skin problems, will get rid of the days grime and odors.
Only downside is the initial smell is a bit strong for some, but it fades quickly on your body.

+2 Both the house brand and the other French milled soaps they offer are very good and last a long time. I pick up most of my bath soaps from them when they have sales.
