Opinions on a comfortable shave

Please add your 2 cents, if you were building a kit just for your most comfortable shave (not closest) what would your kit be.

Here is mine

Fatboy set on 2
AOS Sandlewood shaving cream
derby blade
nivea sensitive aftershave balm

I have been on a comfortable shave kick for a little while and I am not going for BBS shaves anymore.

Please add your thoughts.

Jeff

Mr. Monkey, you're a man of fine taste. Those could easily have been on my list, too. But for originality I'll say,

Razor: Slim Adjustable set to about 7 (usually 9 if I'm going for BBS)
Blade: Astra SP
Soap: QED (I'm in love with that Sandal/Rose blend)
Brush: Omega Boar (stiff but soft and handles the QED like a champ)
Splash: A little Witch Hazel followed by Floris Santal (LOVE the scent)

:hat tip:

Thanks Walter! I'm sipping some of that fine "corn syrup" right now (but listening to The Verve)...I'd pour a splash ouf for you, but I don't want to ruin the finish on my Eames desk...lol...

Proraso Pre/Post
Dubl Duck Wonderedge 5/8 Round Point
MWF Soap
Floid/444

I'm adding an EdT here for once the Floid begins to dissipate, Floris 89, because I find the smell comforting, so that loosely fits the topic I suppose.

kyles prep,
col conk amber,
GEM 1912
GEM PTFE COATED
gillette sensitive aftershave balm,
my awesome no name made in germany brush :) it works best for face lathering,

Don't laugh at my kit, lol!

I'm sort of new to the shaving world (well DE shaving anyway), but my everyday and comfort kit is...

Shaving Soap: Van Der Hagan (Deluxe)

Brush: Van Der Hagan Boar Hair (I'm looking for a good badger hair)

After Shave: Nivea Sensitive Aftershave Balm, Jojoba Oil (Moisturizer)

I also Magic Men's Cream and Clearasil Cream (Benzoyl Peroxide) for my neck area.

A hot wet towel for Kyles prep
Bull Mastiff (Bobsrazorworks)
Feather
Proparso menthol soap
Aqua velva......

That's a normal work day.

other work days I use tabac and a spiced rum, or old spice or somehting.

You forgot to mention the razor you're using?

The Nivea balm seems to be a recurring theme, I need to check out some of that.

Proraso pre/post
Omega brush
Proraso soap
Merkur Progress
Feather Blade
Proraso splash

Total face freeze

any good soap or cream (e.g., MWF or Santa Maria Novella), a ball-handled Tech and one of any number of blades: Feather, Derby, RPIP, for example

I would swap a Feather for the Derby and a SuperSpeed for the FatBoy. Lighter razor + sharper blade = more comfortable. (For me anyway!)

I'd have to say my 59 blue tip, 7 o'clock green blade, Honeybee Spa bay rum soap, Nivea Sensitive Skin ASB, Old Spice Original splash. Smooth and comfortable...

Easily, what I did over the weekend:

Kyle's Prep using a sample sliver of Mama Bear's Aged Spice SS
Razor-GEM Featherweight (unknown year)
Blade-GEM/Personna blade (2nd use)
Brush-Semogue 740 (my only brush:eek:)
Soap-Tabac
A/S- Aqua Velva Ice Sport

I left the bathroom feeling like I had just been at a day spa. It was a wonderful experience!
