Default Finally found a dandruff shampoo that works!

Tis the season for the flakes that dont melt....

I suffer from dandruff in the winter, I have dry skin. No shampoos seemed to work and the best defense I had was applying Cetaphil moisturizer directly to my scalp after showers.
While picking up some Proraso products at Target I bought their no frills brand of Dandruff shampoo that had an active ingredient of 0.5% coal tar. I can't remember the brand name but it was fairly expensive. The target knock off was about $5 for the bottle.
The stuff is fantastic. It literally smells like hot asphalt but I have not had a single flake since using it. I am a pilot and wear black vests over my uniform when its cold and flakes really used to bother me...but not anymore.

Definitely worth trying if you suffer from dry skin/dandruff.

I'm not clear did you get the fairly expensive version or the target knock off version?

If the former what brand is it?

Sorry, it is the targets version of Neutrogena T/Gel shampoo.

Same active ingredient but Targets version was about $5 if I remember correctly.

Hmm. In looking for a link for you I found an extra strength version:

Check out the user reviews...they all have the same experience I have had.

Yeah, T-Gel is great. I use a generic version also. It really does smell like something you would not want on your head, though.

I solved my dandruff problem by daily head shaving...I'm now functionally bald.

Several years ago a Dermatologist recommended Head & Shoulders Intensive treatment(blue bottle). Worked pretty well.
