Thanks gents! I wouldn't be shaving with a straight razor if B&B wouldn't be here. I'm looking forward to the next 1000 shaves!

For those who might be interested in shave sticks and didn't see it, I am reviewing 5 Turkish shave sticks at the moment. I like face lathering and a shave stick is designed for face lathering, so why not! I might review my other shave sticks also when I'm done but not yet.

So today, my edge is blue, the heel (red) isn't honed but it still works. If I wait for too long it will look like the green bit where my heel will be full and I might cut myself with it.
I was mentioning that I had to regrind the heel of a few razors in this post. I did one today.

I got 3 other razors to do later on, I will wait for their honing time to come up so I can do a 2 for 1 to rehone the razor...

The one I did was the Ward Bros. (Bengall). The other 3 are: Jno Baker, my Le Grelot and finally, Thomas Supply Store (Bengall).

    Default Shave #1027

Time for an update. Today's shave was 1027. It's still going very well.

I'm almost over with the Derby shave stick experiment this week. It seems like time fly quickly and I might have to do a marathon to revisit the Turkish shave sticks! It's funny how the texture and scent is so different. The performance is almost identical for all them, making it harder to decide which one will #1.

I thought I would use some Lilac Vegetal this morning as I decanted it 3 weeks ago. The change in the product is noticeable. I mean, not to the point of saying it's a different product but glass did enhance the product compared to plastic. If you use LV, please, decant it, find yourself a small glass bottle, wait a bit, leave the cap on and then try it. I think a week is enough but it seems that AS (any of them) seems to change when you use it. The quantity of air in the glass bottle seem to affect the effects and scent of the AS. Using Lilac Vegetal reminded me that summer is here and this one is better when it's cooler outside (Since it doesn't have menthol as I love menthol in the summer). It also reminded me why I decided to keep this one on the list of product to keep in the den.

There was a very good discussion about it here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...lastic-Bottles

Other than that, Aurora 6/8 straight razor today. This razor is really easy to use, it gets the job done easily. BBS shave, as always!

Sorry I missed it Luc, but Congratulations! I wish you more great shaves to come my friend!

    How is that Derby stick?

I love the Arko and Valobra sticks.

Thanks! I will post the results about the Derby stick in the shave stick thread mentioned in post 327 (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...e-Shave-Sticks) tomorrow. With pictures!

    Default Shave #1029

The Derby review is up compared to the other Turkish shave sticks (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...71#post4401571).

I decided to try an old French advertisement (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...31#post4400331)

The idea is to wet your face with your shave brush, rub the shave stick on your face and then build the lather. It makes sense to me to do it this way as I shake the water out of my brush anyways... It worked pretty well and I found this to be quick.

Shave went without a problem with my Fontenille 134 6/8 straight razor and I finished with the Skin Bracer Original Aftershave (love that one in the summer)!

    Default Shave #1038

Shave #1038 today. Nothing special to report about the shave. I'm starting to get used to those Turkish shave sticks as that journey is about to end. I got some J.M. Fraser shave cream, Kiss my Face Key Lime and Kiss my Face Pomegranate to test afterward...

I used my Klas Törnblom "185" today, very smooth shave.

I honed 3 of my straights also, the Napoleon, James Foster and Lunawerk as they were 24, 22 and 22 shaves respectively. I was getting a pulling sensation so it was time. No issues with the honing, everything went smoothly. I should be able to try the Napoleon and James Foster later on this week to be sure they are fine.

Luc, I think it is awesome that you get 20+ shaves before having to hone again. I'm not quite there yet (I suspect my strop technique needs work) but I enjoy reading your updates. Viva la shave!

I think it will be interesting when I get more shaves out of those who needed honing at shave 17 or 18...

    Default Shave #1044

    Another successful shave today.

I tried, for the second time, Floid Suave Aftershave. I got to say, I like it. There's a sweet scent to it that reminds me of a candy that I use to buy when I was a kid. The light menthol shot in it makes it nice. I tried to find a discussion about Floid Suave and can only find the comparison between the Vigoroso and Suave (both Spanish)... It's still a good discussion, I will probably get the Vigoroso one day to participate in this conversation.

The shave itself was with the Puma today. I superlathered Proraso shave soap (old formulation) with a bit of Kaloderma Shaving Cream with Camomile. My Proraso is about to be finished and I need to add a bit of product as the soap doesn't stick to the bottom of the bowl anymore and it's a bit difficult to charge the brush properly.

The Kaloderma Shave Cream is a very good product. Similar to another German product Kappus Aloe shave cream... The scent isn't the same but they have some similarities as one (Kappus) has a green scent where Kaloderma has the Camomile scent leaning toward a green scent.
