Default FS: Japanese Natural Hone x2

    I have two hones available.

    1. This is a Kiita Akasasu Nashiji natural Japanese hone. Kiita is the yellow colouring, Akasasu is the red and the Nashiji is the few spots that are visible on the surface.

This is quite a hard hone, and has a fast cutting speed. I have tested it myself and have sold a few razors that were finished on it and the customers also thought the edge was great. This hone though does not top out the grit scale. It is not the finest there is but is is plenty fine and suitable for razors. I would rate the grit around 1 micron.

    The measurments are 17cm long x 5.5cm wide x 2cm thick.

    Price $105

    2. This is a Mizu Asagi (water colour blue) natural Japanese hone. It is very hard and quite fine. I would rate the grit above 1 micron. It is also a fast cutting hone for the grit it is.

There is a crack through a portion of the hone but it being lapped doesn't affect the use of the hone.

The hone is quite thick and measures: 20cm long x 9cm wide x 4cm thick. These measurements are the extremes.

    Price $145

The price includes shipping worldwide, that is insured and express.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks for looking.

Clarification on these 'grit' of these hones.

I tested the two hones in this way to see how fine it actually is; I honed three of the same razors up to 1.0 micron. Then I honed one of the razors on 0.5 microm lapping film, another on the Kiita Akasasu Nashiji and the last one on the Mizu Asagi.

    The results were as follows:

The 0.5 micron lapping film had the keenest edge.

The Kiita Akasasu Nashiji was about the same as or slightly less than the1.0 micron level.

The Mizu Asagi was not as keen as the one finished on thhe 0.5 micron but it was definately better than the 1.0 micron.

I hope this helps anyone who was a little unclear.

But also understand that I also have a Nakayama Maruichi and have had mixed results. Some blades have honed up nicer on one of these two and comparitively worse on the Maruichi. And vica versa.

For what it is worth, I have had much the same experience with the Japanese naturals I own, one of which is a very hard, very slow Nakayama Maruichi. Not all my straights get on well with it, but those that do take a superlative edge.
