can anybody tell me about this brush?

i bid to get the razor the brush just happened to come with it... so i thought id ask those more knowledgeable than i, anybody know what it is?

boar brush, nice handle on it if it were me I would re-knot it in some silver tip.

I could be completely wrong but to me it looks like the two parts of the handle were made separately because the base of the handle does not look squarely cut/machined and the join between the two materials does not look to have been finished together.
It could be home made job with the bottom half of the original handle being chopped and something else being stuck on for decorative value, repair or to make the handle larger.
