    Default Shaving w/ larger blades

Hey guys! I need some advice.
I started out shaving with 5/8 & 6/8 blades. They seemed to be the best fit for me, and were cheaper and more available than larger blades. Now however, I think I'd like to move on to shaving with larger 7/8 & 8/8 blades, but they just don't feel as natural as smaller blades did in my hand.
Any tips on grip or technique that might help the transition?

I have no experience in this so I really shouldnt be saying anything but as a user of a smaller blade myself I would have to say start by shaving the same as before but more carefully,.....simple enough. Start slowly and progress from there. Just like anything else. Or,....stick with the smaller blades,...better the devil you know,...than the devil you dont know. Good luck!

Same technique, really. I shave with them essentially the same way as I do with smaller blades. It isn't the greater width that I find more challenging, but the length. Some 8/8 are looooooooooong.

Why the desire to change? Want to build more lather onto your blade (less rinsing), or are you just looking for that beefy big-bladed feeling?

I enjoy the variety. I'm probably in the 5/8 - 6/8 range most of the time but a big 8/8 or a little 4/8 make for an interesting change.

The big Sheffield monsters are incredibly attractive, especially the humpbacked ones. I WILL get one at some point - if I'm ever in post-nuclear-war situation I'll use it to chop down trees and such.

I love my 8/8 Barber Chopper. It gets me a closer shave than my others. Also it seems to go a little faster as well.

No reason, I just kind of like the idea of a big Sheffield blade and want to give it a shot!

It's just going to take some gettind used to, finding one with a good balance would help. My personal razors are mostly 4/8-9/16s, I sold a 7/8 the other day and it was really nice to shave with - you do have to adjust some what though.

That thing was LONG. I could do my whole face is about 6 strokes lol.

I don't have any experience with the larger blades, but I can understand the desire of switching up sizes. I think the big ones would be harder around the nose and mouth...

You just have to get used to the different feel. Once you've sliced off your earlobes or the bottom of your nose or your lips you'll get the hang of it.

    Just kidding.

It just takes a little time and experience.
