My new aftershave regimen

I'd like some feedback on this, if you don't mind. I'm concerned about doing right for my face, as we all are. When I first started wetshaving a few weeks ago, I started using either Clubman's or Witch Hazel, followed by Nivea ASB. In the last few days, though, I've expanded my skin care regimen by adding toner, cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliant. So now my aftershave regimen, I still use the Clubman's or Witch Hazel, but instead of Nivea, I use the toner and moisturizer. I know those things are good for the parts of my face that I don't shave, but for the parts that I do shave... would I be better off going back to an ASB? Or am I still doing okay?

Only you can know this! If your face is not complaining and turning red raw pre or post-shave then it must be working.

I am still searching for the right combination, but since coming on board I have started to moisturise and -as a rule- take better care of my skin. I think I read on B&B that others use toners. I got some and tend to use it away from my shaving routine but part of the overall care package if you follow me.

Chris - no, you can follow the same regimen for your whole face (shaved or not) since the witch hazel is also a toner and the moiturizer is doing pretty much the same thing as the Nizea. A cleaser is great used daily or even twice daily (morning and night) while the exfoliant only needs to be used 2-3 times per week. These were the words and recommendations I got from the Lucky Tiger Men's Skincare Products rep while at Nordstrom's recently. Lastly, the Lucky Tiger stuff seems great...I got some good samples!

If it works for you, great. In my experience, though, simplicity usually wins. The more stuff you add doesn't ensure better results.

There is probably little difference really between a facial moisterizer and an aftershave balm. Especially if you are using them after a splash. Whichever works for you. The Nivea is actually an excellent moisterizer, so feel free to see how your face likes using that instead of the other moisterizer. Either way. I do think the toner (what do you use for this?) after witch hazel or Clubman is redundant. Both of those should be all the toner you need, I would think. Really, that's all witch hazel is, after all.

Edit: One other thing. I'd consider going easy on the exfollient. I don't really see the need for abrading my skin constantly. Seems like once a week would be plenty. Also, you might focus on using it primarily just on forhead and nose; scraping a metal blade over the rest of your face every day, after a good scrub with a brush should really be most all the exfoliation your face needs.

It's easy to go overkill on this stuff. Save that for SCAD.
