Default Anyone have a cure for razor burn?

    Hiya everyone!

For the infrequent times that I do get razor burn, what product(s)would you reccomend to relieve that burning feeling, and the accompaning redness, as well?

If you would include your skin type, that would be helpful.

The cure is called Speick AS lotion, followed by a balm or skin food.

Normal skin type - after shave I ALWAYS use styptic pencil (alum block) as aftershave and let it there for couple of minutes. Then very very very cold water to rinse and close pores (for approx 3 minutes...osunds crazy but it works). After that Nivea Aftershave Lotion (or Balm). This does the trick for me.

Aqua Velva. Seriously! I use Aqua Velva fairly often, but especially if I find myself with some razor burn. Yeah, if I chewed my face up the A/V is going to burn and sting like hell, but all that calms down in a minute and afterward it feels great! Of course, YMMV.

Just make sure you're biting on a stick before putting this on your razor burn!!....It may be a good idea to have a bowl of cold water handy too!

Hydrochloric acid laced with lemon juice...

Seriously, Baxter Aftershave Balm does wonders to soothe razorburn for me.
I have normal skin (somewhat more sensitive in the winter months of course) and heavy beard growth.

i think im going to try warm water splash after the shave, then cold, then Alum block. I wil then take a shower AFTER shaving.

Im going to try it- I did it yesterday and my neck ( usually a problem area) does look better.

I get nowhere with balms and suchlike for razor burn. This stuff WORKS though. I don't know what it is, but that combination of menthol, alcohol, and aloe (I think that's what it uses for conditioning - don't really remember) just plain makes my face feel good no matter what I did to it.

A cold water splash and a little Proraso Pre/Post cream works wonders for me when I get the "burn", which ain't real often, thank goodness. Follow it up with Proraso A/S balm.

For bad cases, I've used Solarcaine with good results. Main ingredient is Aloe Vera, with some benzocaine to numb the burn...

Are styptic pencils and alum blocks made of the same material(s)?

If you could find a cure for razor burn you would be one wealthy individual.

I get my best results with the following produced used in this order: cold water rinse, alum block, Da Vinci Water, an aftershave splash and finally a balm (balm only in the winter months). Unless I've just shredded my face, this regiment will knock out razor burn pretty easily.

Also in my experience A/S splashes fight razor burn (and ingrown hairs) better than balms, if only one is used.

I've gotten my best results after I started this routine:

1: Warm water rinse - to clean face of all residue.
2: Cold water splash - to close pores
3: After shave of some sort - Aqua Velva is great
4: After shave balm - dab 'o Corn Huskers Lotion rubbed on top of damp face
    ================================================== ========

I havent tried many of the top end products.....yet
So I can only comment on those I have. (Anthony ASB Is very good)
AV and CHL really do a super job.
    Of course, FWIT IMHO YMMV
