I shaved a mustache that I had for
30 years. I had literally shaved it never before I removed it a few years ago. It took a LONG time to get it where it was the same as the rest of my face shave wise. I would say 4 months at least.

I use a straight most of the time and getting the hang of making a AG pass took some fine tuning.
A safety razor shouldn't be to bad to get the hang of.

I've never gone more than a week with facial hair. Although my mother has dared me on multiple occasions to not shave for a few weeks to see how'd it look. Sadly, I can't because my job requires me being clean shaven.
