Should I start now?

I've been shaving with a Merkur HD for several weeks now. I have my technique down pretty good, and am getting really good shaves. My question is; I've bought a HD slant, but haven't used it yet. Based on my getting good comfortable shaves now, and the desire for even closer shaves, should I move to the slant now, or give it a bit more time? If so, any advice for the first shaves with the slant? Hope to hear from someone on this.

I'd give it a go and see how it does maybe on a Friday when you have the weekend to recover from any mishaps.
