NOS feathers vs. Brand new feathers

I bought some new old stock feather blades a couple months ago. I have been noticing that alot of them seem rough and have not delivered very good shaves. I did however have a great one last night, but I am not sure what the problem is. I have bought the blades before from the same person and never had any problems. Some seem dull, others arent smooth, and some are great.

So to test this theory I bought 10 brand new HI stainless feathers on ebay. Produced in Jan. of 09. I am going to see if these blades perform any better than the NOS ones I have been using. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
