Danish Barbett razor

I just recieved these two cell phone pics. from my girlfriend, who is currently visiting her farther on the island of Bornholm. She found this razor, along with two worn brushes and a shave stick, at a flea-market there:

Barbett is an old Danish brand of razorblades, you quite often find vintage Barbett blades at flea-markets and in antique stores, but I have never heard of a Barbett razor.

From the pics. and my girlfriends decription it seems to be mint/near mint.

I am quite exited to get to examine it up close. Updates will follow.

Congrats Jakob, this is flash news for me - I only knew the Danish shaving brand Ginge.
Get the razor on the next airplane. We want close ups, descriptions, reviews, razor porn - the works!
Kind regards

I will have it monday. I'll post pics asap.

I am actually looking for a Ginge razor. It is, imho, one of the nicest looking razors ever produced.

I got the razor this afternoon:

Nice case. From the design and material I would date this razor to the early 1950's

The rasor itself looks like a Gillette Old type or NEW with a Tech head

The bladeholder in the lid of the case contained three Barbett "Hulslebet" (hollow ground) blades in Swedish steel

Classic three-piece design. The razor is stamped Barbett beneath the head. The razor is a bit rough; the edges of the head are poorly finished, the knurling of the handle is uneven (or maybe it is just worn?) and the material of the handle varies greatly in thickness

The most interesting thing about this razor is that it is made in Denmark - or at least made for the Danish Market. Apart from that it is a rather rough, but from the looks shaveable, razor in a nice case.

I will be shaving with it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I'll report back then.

Took the razor for a spin this morning. It is a nice shaver, it shaves and handles much like a Tech, maybe a tiny bit more agressive. Only gripe is that it requires a bit of fiddeling around tho get the blade to sit straight in the razor, but not worse that some Merkurs.
I'll shave with it a few more times over the coming weeks and then I'll post a review.

Regards.

Here's another Barbett Razor (hopefully with photos you can still see!). It appears to be the same as some of the models of the more well known Swedish Matador razor. It was in rough shape when I got it, and being made of zamac, I chose gunkoting (at Northshore Razors) to try to preserve it instead of a re-plating. Turned out better than I expected! I haven't tried it yet but know that the Matador works well for me.
